    Gypsy Lane, between Nuneaton and Bedworth, is likely to remain closed throughout the evening rush hour due to a "major" gas leak.

    Gas company Cadent said a "medium pressure" gas pipe had been damaged by contractors carrying out work on a water main in the area.

    Engineers are on site carrying out an assessment, it said.

    The 30-year-old has been released on police bail inquiries continue, said West Midlands Police.

    A company behind a plan for a chicken farm housing 200,000 birds says it would install special filters to remove more than 90% of the smell.

    A report to Shropshire Council's planning committee says the firm, Bedstone Growers, wants to put up four poultry sheds on a farm at Hopton Heath, near Craven Arms., external

    It says the business is promising to fit ammonia filters, a relatively new technology in the UK but used in countries including Belgium and The Netherlands.

    The plans are being recommended for approval at a meeting next week.

    People are being asked not to try and help in the search for a missing university student , externalas police say it's hampering their efforts.

    The force is hunting for Thomas Jones, 18, who was last seen on Wednesday near the Rivern Severn at Worcester Racecourse.

    They've resumed their search today and say divers are now examining the river.

    But officers say while they're grateful for people turning up and offering to help, the area near the water is dark, wet and slippery.

    In one case, they had to stop yesterday and help the ambulance service when a volunteer hurt themselves while trying to help in the search.

    A man's been taken to hospital with suspected head injuries after the car he was travelling in hit a parked vehicle in Coventry last night.

    The crash happened in Billing Road, in the Chapelfields area, shortly after 23:00.

    The suspected driver of a red Vauxhall Corsa fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

    People at the University of Worcester are being offered extra support as the search continues for one of its students who's gone missing during freshers' week.

    Thomas Jones, 18, was last seen near the River Severn, at Worcester Racecourse, on Wednesday.

    West Mercia Police said the teenager's disappearance was "out of character" and the search had resumed today.

    Staff at the university told BBC Hereford and Worcester students were being offered support and they were rallying together.

    The 27-year-old, of Hall Green, Birmingham, admitted burglary and on Wednesday was found guilty of handling stolen goods and driving dangerously.

    At the Birmingham Crown Court hearing, he was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
