A centre to support blind and partially sighted people in Stoke-on-Trent will close its doors for good in November, just 18 months after opening.
The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) centre opened on Albion Street, Hanley, in March last year and has since been run by a number of staff and volunteers.
The RNIB says the "difficult" decision to close it was made earlier this year, due to fewer than five people a day using the centre.
It’s been confirmed the last paid employee at the site will be made redundant in November.

A police officer who was hit by a car is "incredibly positive" despite suffering several injuries, the force's deputy Chief Constable says.
PC Claire Bond is in hospital with multiple leg fractures and a broken kneecap which she received while responding to reports of a car crashing into a garage in Coton Fields, Stafford, on Sunday.
Deputy Chief Constable Nick Baker tweeted to say he's visited her, external and her spirits have been lifted by the support of her colleagues and well-wishers in the community.
A man's appeared before magistrates accused of offences including wounding PC Bond with intent to do grievous bodily harm and was remanded into custody to appear at Stafford Crown Court next month.

The local landmark was taken at some point last weekend after the tree it was carved out of was cut down with a chainsaw.
It's the latest in a spate of vandalism at the Bromyard Downs, near Worcester, which includes swastikas painted on picnic benches and laughing gas cannisters and rubbish left in the car park.

A plan to create a quarry on green belt land in Shropshire's been approved.
JPE Holdings wants to extract 3.5 million tonnes of sand and gravel over 14 years, external from the area on Bridgnorth Road, Shipley, between Bridgnorth and Wolverhampton, because its site in Staffordshire is due to close.
Objectors told a Shropshire Council planning committee meeting that they were being "bounced" into granting permission, claiming that was because the applicant "left it so long".
But the firm said it had taken “four years of hard work” to bring the proposal to fruition and councillors agreed the plans with conditions.

Five people will go on trial next year accused of killing fox cubs after a police inquiry into the now disbanded South Herefordshire Hunt.
The probe began after anti-hunting activists installed hidden cameras outside the hunt's kennels in 2016.
Three men and two women from South Wales and Lincolnshire are facing charges under the animal cruelty act.
All are pleading not guilty and they're set to appear in court on 17 January.

Police say they are keeping an "open mind", more than a week after 18-year-old trainee teacher Thomas Jones went missing in Worcester.
West Mercia Police say they have made more searches of the River Severn today and have scoured CCTV images and phone records as they look for him.
Appearing on BBC Midlands Today, his parents Ian and Vicki Jones said they were "going out of their minds" not knowing what had happened to their son.

Two Conservative MPs are attacking plans to temporarily close the A&E unit in Telford overnight.
A decision's set to be made at a Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust board meeting tomorrow to shut the department from 20:00 to 08:00., external
Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard has tweeted, external to call the move a "deeply flawed decision" which is "reckless".
While Lucy Allan, Telford's MP, says she's urging the NHS trust to reject the proposals, adding that they would be "negligent to agree to this".
The trust says the move's being considered due to staff shortages and to safeguard patient safety.
Three people have been arrested following a police-led drugs raid.
Warwickshire Police raided an address in Lexington Court, Abbey Street, Nuneaton, on Friday.
A 25-year-old woman and 33-year-old man from Nuneaton were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs.
