    The horse fair at Thickthorn in Kenilworth has been scrapped with the council saying there had been "many years of problems".

    After a meeting with police and landowners it had been agreed that the event held on 29 and 30 September was the last, a statement said.

    The travellers event has been held there three times a year since 2001.

    Warwick District Council leader Andrew Mobbs said: “After many years of problems relating to the Horse Fair, I am pleased for the people of Kenilworth that our recent efforts supported by the police have led to the agreement that this event will no longer take place."

    Two teams from Coventry have taken on others from across the UK in a five-a-side tournament featuring players who are homeless.

    The Salvation Army's Partnership Trophy featured about 20 teams in all with a team from Belfast winning the competition, held in Manchester.

    The charity said sport could play a big part in making people feel valued and improve their self-esteem.

    A woman's body has been discovered at a house in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.

    Staffordshire Police said, external it was called to Glebedale Road at 17:00 on Monday after concern was raised for the occupant.

    The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and formal identification has yet to take place. Next of kin have been informed.

    A Birmingham nightclub has been allowed to keep its licence following the death of a teenager from a suspected drug overdose.

    Lab 11 in Digbeth has been commended for putting together a "comprehensive" package of measures following the incident on 2 September.

    The venue on Trent Street originally had its licence suspended by Birmingham City Council after a 19-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest and later died at City Hospital.

    Lab 11 owner Will Power, 30, has taken over as the designated premises supervisor and has almost doubled the amount of CCTV cameras to 42.

    He's replaced the security team and introduced drug detection dogs.

    Further measures include reducing the size of the toilet doors to deter drug activity, improved lighting, installing sloped services and anti-drug signage.

    A fault with the signalling system, external in the Stoke-on-Trent area is causing disruption to trains through the station, Network Rail reports.

    Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

    A father will be sentenced today for the murder of his eight-year-old daughter in an apparent act of revenge.

    Mylee Billingham died from stab wounds to the chest following an attack in her father's bungalow in Brownhills in January.

    Yesterday, it took a jury at Birmingham Crown Court less than two hours to convict William Billingham, 55, of murder, and threatening to kill his former partner, Mylee's mother, Tracey Taundry.

    A flagship Primark due to open in Birmingham in time for Christmas, will now open in spring 2019.

    The change in date is to "facilitate some additional work", a spokesperson said.

    The store, which will be the company's biggest yet covering 160,000 sq ft, will open on High Street in the city centre.

    Staff from the current store will transfer across and a separate 500 jobs will be created, the spokesperson added.

    A 7ft (2.1m) boa constrictor that fell from an attic on to the landing as the hatch was opened, has been reunited with its owners, reports Coventry Live, external.

    Stephen Hope and his wife Annette were left "stunned" after the reptile fell at their home in Stockingford, Nuneaton.

    Lofty, as the snake became known, was taken to the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Owner Geoff Grewcock said the snake's owner arrived after seeing it on BBC Midlands Today.

    “He only lived four doors away. The snake had got out of its vivarium in the attic – it slid the glass open and crawled out."
