    The fault with the signalling system, external in the Stoke-on-Trent area has been fixed, the National Rail website reports.

    However some East Midlands Trains services between the city and Crewe may still be cancelled as services try and get back to normal.

    Disruption is now expected until 12:00.

    Telford MP Lucy Allan has asked the Health Secretary to put the trust running Shropshire’s two main hospitals into special measures.

    It follows a decision by the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust to close Telford’s accident and emergency department overnight, for the next six months, because of staffing shortages.

    Health Secretary Matt Hancock has responded to say he will monitor the situation, but can’t place the trust into special measures, as that’s down to the regulator, NHS improvement.

    Stoke City's winger James McClean hopes to return to action after missing two games with a broken left arm.

    McClean suffered the injury while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland earlier this month.

    Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham is an injury doubt after coming off late on in Friday night's 1-1 draw at Bristol City with a calf problem.

    Everton loan man Yannick Bolasie is yet to make his first Villa start, while fellow strikers Scott Hogan and Keinan Davis remain out with groin problems.

    Villa are in 15th, but still only six points off the top, despite having only won once in eight games.

    A man has been shot by police during dawn raids.

    The shooting took place as six people were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences in Birmingham, West Midlands Police said.

    Four men and two women were arrested during the pre-planned operation and a firearm was recovered.

    Another man at the address was shot by police during the search and has been taken to hospital with an arm injury, which is not believed to be life threatening.

    Officers forced entry to the house in Shepherds Gardens, Edgbaston, at about 05:00 looking for a man wanted in connection with a firearms offence.

    The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

    The funeral takes place later of Diane Leather, an athlete from Streetly who was the first woman to run a mile in less than five minutes.

    The Birchfield Harrier ran the time during the 1954 Midlands Women's Championships at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium, Her time, however, was not ratified as some women's middle distance running was not recognised internationally at that time.

    Latest Nationwide house price data shows that prices edged up 0.3% in September, giving an annual rise of 2%.

    Average house prices for the third quarter of 2018 show prices in the West Midlands went up by 4.1%.

    The average price for a house is £190,607.

    Mike Ashley's firm has announced it has sacked the senior management team at House of Fraser.

    The news comes as it is confirmed the House of Fraser store in Shrewsbury is to close.

    The future of the store, known locally as Rackhams, had been under threat since June when House of Fraser got into financial difficulty and announced it was shutting 31 shops.

    Since then the retailer has been bought out by Ashley's Sports Direct firm.

    Over the last few months the firm's new owner has been trying to renegotiate rents in an attempt to save money and although the Telford store has been saved, they've failed to agree a deal with the owners of the Rakchams building.

    It's expected to close in January.

    Almost £5,000 has been raised , externalfor a memorial to Worcestershire teenager Thomas Jones who went missing over a week ago.

    The 18-year-old University of Worcester student vanished after a night out in the city on Wednesday, 19 September.

    A body was recovered in the River Severn at South Quay in the city on Friday, police said.

    A candlelit vigil was held on Sabrina Bridge for the teenager at the weekend.

    Thomas's friend, Harley Heatherington, says he has now launched the appeal so that the money is there for when the family are ready.

    The parents of murdered soldier Lee Rigby are hoping to raise £500,000 to expand a retreat which they helped set up to help bereaved soldiers and families.

    The Lee Rigby Foundation Centre, external opened in Oakamoor, Staffordshire, last October and is run by Lee's mum and stepdad, Lynn and Ian.

    They are trying to raise more money to build 13 new bedrooms, a hydro therapy pool and cafe.

    Lee Rigby from Middleton, Greater Manchester, was killed outside his barracks in Woolwich in May 2013.

    The fault with the signalling system, external in the Stoke-on-Trent area is ongoing and causing disruption to trains between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent, the National Rail website reports.

    Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted. Disruption is expected to last until 10:00 BST.

    The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner has renewed his call for the government to pay the entire cost of policing the Conservative party conference.

    But David Jamieson says the force has spent more than £400,000 on preparatory work.

    Budget Icelandic airline Primera Air has gone into administration leaving passengers stranded.

    The airline said it had been unable to secure financing in the long-term, it also blamed the late arrival of new aircraft from Airbus which caused it to cancel flights and lease planes.

    The company’s board said ceasing operations at this time of year would have a smaller affect on customers.

    The firm operated flights from Birmingham but halted all flights in August.
