West Mercia Police are going to pull out of an alliance with Warwickshire Police which they've been in for five years.
West Mercia Police's chief constable and police and crime commissioner say the move is to be "more effective and efficient" in what they do and to save money.
When the alliance started in 2013, the aim was for both forces to save £30m by 2015 and cut hundreds of staff.
West Mercia Police says the alliance will officially end on 8 October 2019.
However they admit they haven't worked out what will specifically change from the move, such as officer numbers and the "virtual control room" the two forces use.

A proposed third lane is being scrapped from a link between the A50 and A522 – despite objections from town and parish councillors.
Work is well under way on improvements to the A50 junction north of Uttoxeter, close to JCB’s World Parts Centre.
At the end of September engineers worked round the clock throughout the weekend to remove a bridge which carried the A522 across the dual carriageway between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter.
Staffordshire County Council has now given the go-ahead to scrap eastbound and westbound third lane widening works on the link between the A50 and A522, saying construction of the third lane could "create safety issues and would be a maintenance liability".
