    Dozens of residents have protested against plans to build 37 homes on an area of parkland in Worcester.

    They're angry at Fortis Living's plans to put the houses on roughly half of Sanctuary Park, saying the site is "an important ecological site" and should be protected.

    The city council's planners are yet to decide on the application,, external having twice deferred to carry out more consultation and studies.

    In its application, Fortis Living says the development would protect and enhance natural habitats, protected species and biodiversity through plans such as, external keeping important trees and creating "wildlife corridors".

    The Wrekin Housing Trust says it's secured a £650,000 government grant which means a new training centre's going to be created in Telford. , external

    It says it'll teach construction skills to the long-term unemployed as well as to people looking to make a career-change and students.

    Hundreds of teddy bears have been knitted and donated by community groups to Staffordshire Police to be used to comfort children "during upsetting experiences".

    Led by Police Community Support Officers Ash Goodwin and Claire Reeves, they say they got the idea from seeing the bears used by other police forces, such as Cheshire's.

    Knitting groups from across Staffordshire then got involved, including ones in Cannock, Heath Hayes, Lichfield and Werrington.

    The bears are now being given to several police units , externalto be used in situations such as witnessing a crime or being in a car crash.

    The search for construction teams to work on Birmingham's main HS2 station has been launched by the company behind the high speed rail-line.

    Phase one of HS2 will see the line built between London and Birmingham, before later heading north.

    Curzon Street, in Birmingham city centre, is due to open with seven high-speed platforms in 2026.

    It has been designed to offer connections with the West Midlands Metro as well as local rail services via the nearby Moor Street station, HS2 Ltd said.

    The original 1838 Grade I-listed Curzon Street station will be incorporated in the design and become a visitor centre and offices.

    Separate contractors, appointed last year, will build the tunnels and viaducts that will carry the new 360km/h trains into the centre of Birmingham and to the Interchange station near Solihull, the NEC and Birmingham Airport.

    Two men face jail after being found guilty of the murder of a man found in a car with gunshot wounds.

    Taimoor Zaheer, 22, was found on Maxwell Avenue in Handsworth in May and was confirmed dead at the scene.

    Anib Khan (pictured left) was caught on CCTV firing the shotgun into a car driven by Taimoor Zaheer, who had been lured to his death by the killer and his older brother, Harras, said West Midlands Police.

    Anib Khan, 23, and Harras Khan, 25, both of Crompton Road, Handsworth were today found guilty of murder at Birmingham Crown Court.

    They face automatic life imprisonment when they are sentenced on Tuesday.

    Facing a misconduct hearing today, they deny accusations of dishonesty and using excessive force.
