Shake-up of school system 'approved'published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2018
An academy trust says it's been given approval to change when pupils can start and finish at its first and high schools.
The Avonreach Academy Trust runs four schools in Worcestershire - three first schools (Cherry Orchard, Inkberrow and Norton Juxta-Kempsey) and Pershore High School (pictured).
At the moment,, external children at its first schools leave in year four to go to a middle school and can then return to the high school in year eight.
But today, the trust says the Regional Schools Commissioner has approved changes , externalso the first schools teach up to year six and the high school takes students from year seven - bypassing any middle school.
The organisation adds that the changes will happen over two years, starting from September, subject to discussions in the new year over how the changes will be brought in.
