    A new nature reserve looks likely to be created in Shropshire if councillors give it approval.

    The plans are going before Telford and Wrekin Council's cabinet tomorrow, external for the Dawley Pools and Pit Mounds site.

    The proposals say the reserve would contain five species of bats and become the only known site in the county for Mare's-tail, a rare aquatic plant.

    If approved, the project would bring the total number of nature reserves in Telford to 15.

    Police want to speak to this individual over an assault on a man who was also pushed into oncoming traffic and left seriously injured.

    The victim, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with what police called severe head injuries following the attack at about 21:00 GMT on Alcester Road in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, on 4 December.

    Officers are working to establish the events leading up to the incident, releasing CCTV images as part of their efforts.

    Aston Villa's Jack Grealish (pictured) is unlikely to play in January and goalkeeper Orjan Nyland will miss the rest of the season, boss Dean Smith has confirmed.

    Nyland has ruptured his Achilles, while on-loan Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe could be out for a further eight to 10 weeks after foot surgery.

    Midfielder Grealish has not played since 7 December because of a bone stress issue.

    Meanwhile, Smith said he was "not worried" following reports that striker Tammy Abraham's season-long loan spell from Chelsea was to be cut short.

    Abraham's double against QPR at Villa Park took him to 16 goals this season.

    Three men have been arrested over a stabbing in Coventry on New Year's Day.

    Police said a man was found with a torso injury on Kele Road, Canley, but the injury's not thought to be life-threatening.

    Three men, aged 19, 25 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of wounding and released on bail.

    Tickets have gone on general sale this morning for Burton Albion's Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

    It's a first major semi-final for Burton, who have only been playing in the EFL Cup for 10 years, having won the National League in 2009.

    Nigel Clough's side beat Middlesbrough 1-0 last month to make it to this stage, becoming the first team from the third tier to reach the last four since Sheffield United, managed by Clough, in 2014-15.

    The roof of several warehouses has collapsed, external after a severe fire.

    At its height, 75 firefighters, plus specialist teams, fought the blaze which broke out during the early hours of yesterday morning at EDM in Planetary Road, Wednesfield.

    The company provides storage for paper documents. The building is made up of four adjoining warehouses.

    The number of people shopping in Worcester over the Christmas week was up on the year before, according to a local business group.

    The Worcester Business Improvement District (BID) says 463,000 came to the city in the last week of December, compared to 433,000 in the same week in 2017.

    That flies in the face of a national trend of declining footfall, especially on Boxing Day.
