    Two underpasses are going to be filled with concrete at a cost of £130,000 because a council says they've fallen out of favour., external

    Telford and Wrekin Council says the routes on Randley Avenue in The Nedge aren't being used a lot and such sites are often linked to anti-social behaviour and neglect.

    The pair of underpasses will be filled in over 16 weeks from today along with the embankments on either side and new footpaths created.

    The council says the cost of removing them will be recouped through savings on maintaining them.

    Stoke City manager Gary Rowett says negativity from supporters in their past few matches is having an impact on the players.

    The 44-year-old former Birmingham City boss left Derby County to join Stoke in the summer, but they have won just eight of their 26 league fixtures since relegation from the Premier League.

    They are eight points off the final play-off spot, which is occupied by Frank Lampard's Rams - and four points (and six places) behind Rowett's other former Championship club Birmingham.

    Some Stoke fans displayed a "Rowett out" banner during their 2-0 home defeat by Bristol City on 1 January and the side needed to come from behind to take Saturday's FA Cup tie to a replay.

    The One Show will be broadcast from Shropshire tonight.

    The BBC programme will be live from the Iron Bridge to mark the work that's been done by English Heritage on the famous landmark.

    As part of its restoration, the metalwork has been repaired and it has been repainted it in its original red colour.

    An escaped rhea that's been roaming the grounds of a golf club for months has had part of the course named after him.

    Staff at Evesham Golf Club said the 6ft, flightless bird appeared in its grounds in October and staff named him Linford, after Olympic 100m champion Linford Christie, due to his speed.

    However, nobody has managed to catch the bird in more than two months and golf club workers say their members are quite happy having him around.

    The club are currently ninth in Vanarama National League North, external and say the decision comes after "mutually amicable discussions".

    They add senior players Jimmy O'Connor and Russ Penn will, with chairman Colin Gordon, manage the team for the rest of the season.

    Sean Fitzgerald died on Friday after armed officers executed a warrant at an address in Burnaby Road as part of a "long-running criminal investigation".

    Two 26-year-olds were held on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.

    One has been bailed and the second released under investigation.

    The death of a disabled woman who had all her teeth removed has led to questions being raised about the dental treatment of vulnerable patients.

    Rachel Johnston died two weeks after all her teeth were taken out at a dental service run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, criticised for its drastic full extractions.

    The story prompted many people from around the UK to contact the BBC to share their own experiences of hospital dental surgery on people with learning disabilities, with some also telling of loved ones having all their teeth removed at once because of severe decay.

    The NHS Trust in Worcestershire insisted it followed the correct procedures for vulnerable patients, while three clinical commissioning groups are investigating Ms Johnston's death.

    A woman in her 90s has been found dead at an address in the Kingstanding area of Birmingham, police say.

    Police were called to the property in Chingford Road after the body was discovered by ambulance service workers at about 18:45 on Sunday.

    The death is being treated as unexplained, says the West Midlands force.

    A 57-year-old man, believed to be known to the woman, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, it adds.

    Thousands of children in England with special educational needs are waiting too long for an education, health and care plan (EHC), the BBC has learned.

    According to data, Worcestershire was among the areas with the longest individual wait for an EHC which sets out a child's needs and the support to which they are entitled.

    In the county, there was a wait of more than two years at 870 days. Council care statements should take 20 weeks., external

    Worcestershire County Council says it's dealt with an 80% increase in demand since 2017, and that a recruitment drive is under way for a new special educational needs service.

    Discount supermarket chain Aldi said it made almost £1bn in sales during December.

    The company, which has its UK headquarters in Atherstone, Warwickshire, said it had its best ever UK Christmas trading period - with the week of 17 December its busiest ever, with sales 10% higher than the previous year.

    During the month, customers bought 17m bottles of wine, champagne and prosecco.

    It also flogged nearly 50m mince pies and almost 100m sprouts.
