    A tourist information centre's going to switch locations later this year in a bid to save money.

    Malvern Hills District Council says it's reached a deal with Great Malvern Priory to rent out the former parish office at Lyttleton Well, Malvern., external

    The local authority's moving the centre because it says it's currently "unsustainable" and, overall, the council needs to save £1.45m by 2021.

    Two staff are taking voluntary redundancy and the council says the centre will shut on 12 May in its Church Street location and reopen at Lyttleton Well on 17 May.

    A documentary featuring looked after children in Coventry has been nominated for a Bafta.

    Superkids – Breaking Away from Care, broadcast on Channel 4 last November, featured a group of children from the city who worked with writer and performer Lemn Sissay.

    The main Bafta Television Awards will be handed out on 12 May at the Royal Festival Hall in London and the ceremony will be shown on BBC One.

    A metal foundry's been given permission to knock down old buildings and replace them with modern units, despite objections from neighbours.

    British Spirals and Castings, which makes spiral staircases and other cast iron products, said the state of its current site off Millrise Road, Milton, Stoke-on-Trent, external, was "Victorian".

    In its proposal, the firm said it wanted to invest £250,000 once the new buildings are constructed and expand the size of its workforce.

    But neighbours had objected to the plans, raising concerns about noise, disturbance and a loss of light.

    However councillors approved the plans this week.

    National League North side Nuneaton Borough have had a winding-up petition against them adjourned after paying an outstanding tax bill.

    HM Revenue and Customs brought the action over a bill of £32,000.

    The case in the High Court was adjourned until 1 May after the club paid the bill following a donation from a local businessman.

    The club returns to court on Thursday to apply for a validation order to unfreeze its bank accounts.

    A man who was shot in the arm by police officers during a dawn raid last year will be sentenced next month after admitting several firearms offences.

    At Birmingham Crown Court earlier this month, the 30-year-old, of Fiveways, Edgbaston, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and two charges of possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.

    The shooting was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which says it's in the final stages of its probe into the shooting by West Midlands Police officers.

    The IPOC is also investigating the force over a number of other shootings by officers.

    West Midlands Police has deployed a firearm four times since 2017, including two fatalities this year.

    Staffordshire Police says the 27-year-old victim is in a stable condition in hospital after being found with stab wounds on Madison Street, Tunstall, on Tuesday afternoon.

    Officers arrested three people this morning over the attack, two men aged 19 and 25 and a 16-year-old boy.

    They have since released the 25-year-old who won't face any further action.

    Cheshire Police says the 19-year-old, from Chorley, Lancashire, is in custody, charged with two counts of unauthorised acts with intent to impair operation of or prevent/hinder access to a computer.

    Officers say it's in connection with two Distributed Denial of Service attacks on websites run by Cheshire Police and Greater Manchester Police.

    Many of you have been posting congratulatory messages on the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Facebook page, external, for victorious gymnast Emily Creely.

    The 21-year-old won two gymnastics gold medals and three silvers at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi.

    There's even a call for Emily, who has Down's syndrome and is partially sighted, to have a postbox painted gold as was done to commemorate 2012 Olympics winners.

  13. Three arrested in Labour anti-semitism probepublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

    Three people have been arrested in an investigation into alleged anti-Semitism among Labour Party members.

    Among the three was a man in his 50s, arrested in Birmingham on 7 March.

    Another man in his 50s and a woman in her 70s were also arrested on suspicion of publishing or distributing material likely to stir up racial hatred.

    All have been released pending further inquiries.

    It is understood that disciplinary action was taken by Labour against the three individuals believed to be under investigation, and none of them are members of the party any longer.

    Council staff in Wolverhampton will be made to take unpaid annual leave over the Christmas period as the cash-strapped authority looks to cut its wage bill.

    The City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet approved recommendations to adopt the new National Joint Council (NJC) pay model that will see most staff get a 2% pay rise from April 2019.

    But, as part of changes to their terms of conditions, employees will be required to take a mandatory three days unpaid annual leave between Christmas and New Year.

    A woman has been charged with causing the death of a six-year-old who was hit and killed on her way for prayers at a mosque in the West Midlands.

    Jannatul Bakya was hit while crossing Oldbury Road in Smethwick, West Midlands, in July 2018.

    Officers arrested Andjele Vranjes of Beakes Road, Bearwood shortly after the collision.

    The 27-year-old is due to appear at Walsall Magistrates' Court today.
