    Wolves are set to confirm the club-record signing of striker Raul Jimenez from Benfica for £30m later today.

    The Mexican, 27, has scored 15 goals in 37 games since joining the Premier League newcomers on a season-long loan in June 2018.

    He has helped Wolves to seventh in the table and played a key role in them reaching Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Watford.

    The fee surpasses the £18m paid for Adama Traore in August 2018.

    A statue to honour three West Bromwich Albion footballers, known as The Three Degrees, is finally set to be unveiled in May.

    The Celebration Statue commemorates Brendon Batson, Cyrille Regis and Laurie Cunningham, who played in the 1970s.

    The statue is set to stand in New Square in West Bromwich town centre.

    It suffered a series of setbacks when a 2014 finish date and a new one for April 2018 failed to materialise.

    The coroner in the Birmingham pub bombings inquests will resume his summing up this morning as the jury prepares to consider its verdicts.

    Sir Peter Thornton QC is going through nearly six weeks-worth of evidence about the explosions at the Mulberry Bush and Tavern in the Town pubs in November 1974.

    The coroner listed eight questions about the bombings which the jury had to answer, including the adequacy of warnings telephoned to a local newspaper, whether the authorities had forewarnings of the attacks and whether the IRA was responsible.

    He has directed the jury to answer "Yes" to the question whether the 21 people were unlawfully killed.

    "This was murder in ordinary language and murder in law," he said.

  5. Woman questioned over stab murderpublished at 07:16 British Summer Time 4 April 2019

    Officers are questioning a woman on suspicion of murdering a man who was stabbed in Birmingham.

    The 53-year-old is known to the victim, police said.

    Officers were called to Alwold Court, Barnes Hill, at about 01:00 on Tuesday and discovered a man, 52, with a serious stab injury. He later died in hospital.

    The woman remains in custody and detectives have been granted more time to question her.

    Woodland that was cleared during the First World War to provide timber for the trenches is going to have a memorial to mark the end of the conflict.

    Listening posts, information boards and artwork will tell the story of Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum in Herefordshire.

    Coventry City Council says it could be at least three years before work could start on a new ground for Sky Blues at the site of former school Woodlands Academy.

    BBC Coventry and Warwickshire reports the football club has identified the area in the west of the city as a potential site for a new stadium, but council officials say there would be a number of obstacles to overcome, including issues involving listed buildings, protected woodland and restrictions on use.

    The club is facing expulsion from the football league if it can't agree a deal to continue playing at the Ricoh stadium - owned by rugby club Wasps - or find an alternative home.

    A bed frame, old bottle tops and other rubbish has been turned into an outdoor play area in Hereford.

    Children were invited to visit the new garden at Saxon Hall for the first time today and it includes a mud kitchen and raised flower beds along with activity panels and tables.

    It's been created with funding from the property developer Prime, which is covnverting the former council HQ in Hereford into a care home.
