Sandeep Kooner and her three children had been expecting to be on a flight from London to India on Friday evening to attend her niece's wedding in Punjab.

But the 40-year-old from Walsall will now miss the first few days of the week-long celebrations after her flight was cancelled.

"I had just sat down in the nail salon when I got a text message to say my flight had been cancelled," she told the BBC.

She has now arranged to fly with Air India, but that will be days later and to Delhi - an eight hour drive to her destination - rather than a local one.

"I'm not 100% sure my problem is 100% sorted," she said.

  15. Former workers demonstrate over pensions rowpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

A hundred former workers from HSBC have been taking part in a protest over their pensions at the bank's AGM in Birmingham this morning.

    Protest

They say £2,500 of their company pension is being taken off them annually when they receive a state pension.

The long-running dispute relates to "clawback" applied to the pension payout when a member reaches retirement age and also receives a state pension.

The bank said the scheme is not "unfair, disproportionate or discriminatory" and argues that describing it as "clawback" is not justified as the sums are not withheld or clawed-back.

Norman Stephens, 47, also breached standards of professional behaviour after accessing the force's computer systems without a legitimate purpose.

The former officer, of Hatton Park, Warwick, illegally used the force's incident management, intelligence and number plate recognition systems in May and June last year.

In February he was sentenced to a 12-month community order at Warwick Magistrates' Court after admitting four counts of causing a computer to perform a function to secure or enable unauthorised access to a program or data.

At a special case hearing it was found that if he hadn't previously resigned he would have been dismissed from the force.

He will now be placed on the College of Policing barred list.

Helena Bennett, Head of Professional Standards for Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, said: "Stephens' actions were entirely inappropriate and were clearly an abuse of his position of trust".
