    The Cinderella Sports Ground, home to Worcestershire County Cricket Club until 1899, had been under threat of demolition.

    The city council says the pavilion's going to be taken apart and rebuilt at the open-air Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, near Bromsgrove.

    The sports ground will then be refurbished and used by Heart of Worcestershire College.

    Plans to build an elite centre for women's football in Cheshire will boost the number of girls getting involved in the sport, according to those behind the project.

    Cheshire FA says the proposals involving a former golf club in Winsford , externalare up for approval in July.

    It wants the centre to offer similar facilities to those at St George’s Park, Staffordshire, where the England national football team trains.

    A new partnership between police and scientists in the Midlands could revolutionise the investigation of some of the most complex murder cases.

    About £150,000 is being invested by West Midlands Police at the University of Warwick to develop 3D printing science, that could be used to reproduce forensic evidence.

    So far, more than 100 cases have benefited from the facilities, giving the police a whole new set of tools to investigate some of the most difficult crimes they have to deal with.

    The Wales captain, 34, is currently on loan from Everton at the Potters but his contract expires this summer making him a free agent.

    Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, the Swansea City owners, are involved with the Washington-based side, who are one of a number of clubs keen on Williams.

    He is also understood to be interesting Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town.

    A source close to Williams said any discussions on his future would take place at the end of the season.

    Two West Midlands swimmers have been named in a 24-strong Great Britain team for the World Para Swimming Championships in London in September.

    Worcester's Rebecca Redfern (pictured) and Megan Richter, who swims with the Orion Swimming Club in Birmingham, are part of the set-up.

    The championships begin on 9 September.

  14. Ironwork centre faces wait over unauthorised buildingspublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 30 April 2019

    A council has given retrospective planning permission, external to a visitor attraction in Shropshire for a cafe, showroom and toilets.

    But the British Ironworks Centre, near Oswestry, will have to wait and see whether the government decides to call in the matter.

    The site was given permission in 2009 to convert some of its farm buildings into offices and storage but went beyond what had been agreed.

    Today, Shropshire Council agreed to give the development official permission.

    A member of the public has written to the government asking for a public inquiry into what happened.

  15. 'Homeless person's tent destroyed in fire'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 30 April 2019

    Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at Bordesley Middleway in Birmingham - reportedly the scene of a burning tent that belonged to a homeless person.

    According to Birmingham Live, external, West Midlands Fire Service said the tent had been completely destroyed along with the man's possessions inside.

    Crews have also been tackling a second Birmingham blaze - a “large rubbish fire in a car park” on Meriden Street, Bordesley Green.

    According to a fire service spokesman, there was a possibility of gas canisters at the scene, leading to a provisional cordon.

    A farm's 'cheeseroom' and a caravan are among the more unusual venues that'll be used as polling stations this Thursday.

    Ballot boxes in Stafford's HQ

    Voters in the Seighford and Church Eaton wards in Stafford will use ballot boxes at the Cheeseroom at Ellenhall Grange Farm, near Eccleshall, where artisan cheeses used to be made.

    While, in the Gnosall and Woodseaves ward, people will vote in a caravan parked on Grub Street, High Offley.

    All seats on the borough council are up for election although only 38 will be voted on as two are uncontested.
