    Peter Nutting said he'd made a statement after Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski said he'd taken legal advice on how to go about abolishing Telford and Wrekin Council.

    The suggestion was tweeted by the Conservative MP last week, external and quickly opposed by his fellow Tory MP, Telford's Lucy Allan.

    Mr Nutting said his council would "resist any attempt" to officially merge with Telford's and there seemed to be 'little logic' in the idea.

    The idea the two councils, the only two in Shropshire, should merge has been floated previously, in a bid to cut costs.

    Pupils have a right to take part in teachings about LGBT relationships, according to England's Children's Commissioner.

    Anne Longfield gave her backing to Anderton Park Primary School in Birmingham, where there have been weeks of protests over the teachings.

    Demonstrators voiced concerns children were "too young" to learn about LGBT relationships.

    But Ms Longfield said there hadn't been enough focus on the rights of children in the debate and added parents shouldn't be allowed to opt out of certain parts of the curriculum.

    Yesterday, a trial date was set over whether the protests can continue outside the school.

    The role of the Children's Commisioner is to promote and protect the rights of children.

    A second flood alert's been issued in the West Midlands, covering parts of the River Tame near Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield. , external

    The Environment Agency's said it's down to the heavy rainfall and joins the earlier alert for the Upper Teme in Shropshire.

    It added that it expects river levels to remain high until at least 18:00 today.

    Disruption to rail services between Birmingham and Milton Keynes could last until 4pm, the Network Rail website reports.

    All lines have reopened following damage to the overhead electric wires , externalbetween Birmingham New Street and Milton Keynes Central.

    Trains between these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or revised while services return to normal.

    CrossCountry, London North Western and Virgin services are among those affected with rail replacement coaches provided.

    A confidential helpline for victims of forced marriages and honour based abuse is being launched.

    The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner's office has provided £47,200 to fund the project.

    The number of recorded forced marriages increase from 7 in 2011 to 35 in 2018, with honour based abuse crimes increasing from 52 to 182 during the same period.

    They said the man had suffered a leg injury and, after being lowered using ropes, was taken to hospital.

    Worcester's MP has said it's 'a great shame' triple child killer David McGreavy's reportedly been released from prison.

    McGreavy killed Elsie Urry's children, Paul Ralph, four, Dawn, two, and nine-month-old Samantha, at their home in the city in 1973.

    Ms Urry told BBC Hereford and Worcester today that she had been informed of his release by Victim Support.

    Robin Walker, MP for Worcester, has repeatedly written to successive governments opposing McGreavy's release and said he should never have been let out.

    He added: "I understand there are strict curfew and tag conditions and he is banned from Worcester, and the area in Andover where Ms Urry lives."

    The Parole Board and the Ministry of Justice have been approached for comment.
