    Telford and Wrekin Council says it's to allow staff to clear gullies and deploy bungs at the Wharfage, to stop any flood water coming up through drains., external

    The authority's not expecting flood barriers to go up on the route, external as the weather forecast is improving.

    Residents in houses below the level of Wharfage are going to be offered sandbags this evening from opposite the Tontine Hotel, in case they're needed.

    The Environment Agency installed the pumps in Kempsey, near Worcester, in 2012 after a 20-year campaign by villagers.

    There's a flood alert, meaning flooding is possible, covering the village, external after the week's heavy rain and the agency said it expected the river level to keep rising.

    A coal-fired power station in Warrington which employs more than 150 staff is set to close next year.

    Owners of Fiddler's Ferry, SSE, said it follows multimillion-pound losses and the move to greener energy.

    The firm said it will look to redeploy some staff and offer enhanced redundancy terms.

    SSE is consulting with workers and trade unions with a view to closing by 31 March.

    After telling you the number of flood warnings had fallen in the West Midlands and Cheshire this afternoon, they've increased again.

    The Environment Agency now has 10 in place with the newest ones including the River Penk, near Stafford, and the River Anker at Mancetter, Warwickshire.

    You can see a full list here and there are also nearly 20 flood alerts also still in place across the region. , external

    The agency's flood warnings mean flooding is expected while alerts mean flooding is possible.

    Walcott Ford, in Drakes Broughton and Shell Ford near Droitwich are both closed due to flooding, Worcestershire County Council says.

    Shell Ford in particular has a reputation for catching people out, with a number of drivers having to be erscued in recent years.
