'Awful timing': Man arrested after keyless entry gaffepublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 24 June 2019
A burglary suspect has been arrested after inadvertently opening a stolen car with a keyless entry fob as he walked past.
Unfortunately for him, it was being guarded by plain clothes police officers at the time.
The Range Rover Evoque was spotted in Beak Street, Birmingham and identified as being stolen and carrying cloned plates in the early hours of 21 June, police said.
A 26-year-old man was detained at the scene and when officers later searched the vehicle they discovered a loaded revolver in the glove box.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of car theft, possession of a pistol and burglary, and bailed pending further inquiries.
Insp Al Teague from the Birmingham Organised Crime Unit, said the incident was: "Great timing for us… awful timing for him".
