Researchers say children growing up in Birmingham could lose half a year of their lives due to illegal levels of air pollution in the city.

The council and the West Midlands Combined Authority have recently declared a climate emergency, and a zero-carbon emission target has been set for 2030.

“No child should have their life cut short because of air pollution, and that is why we are taking strong and urgent action to tackle it,” he said.
