    Major disruption on the rail network through the West Midlands is now expected to carry on into the evening., external

    Damage to the overhead electric wires in the Rugeley Trent Valley area is resulting in fewer lines being available for trains to run on. It is thought the disruption will continue until 20:00 with London Northwestern Railway, Virgin Trains and West Midlands Railway services all being affected.

    Services could be cancelled, delayed or diverted, adding to journey times.

    Birmingham Airport's apologised to passengers facing long waits for their suitcases.

    They were expecting nearly 49,000 people to pass through their two terminals today and several have tweeted of delays at baggage claim. , external

    The airport's blamed "operational reasons, external" and promised more staff would be on hand to help.

    Three mechanical diggers, a bulldozer and a dumper truck, have been seized by the police.

    The Environment Agency said the vehicles, which were parked in a field near Stratford-upon-Avon are believed to have been used to dump contaminated soil illegally.

    The Environment Agency said its investigation into the alleged activities are continuing and it said that if the owners of the vehicles don't come forward by 6 September, they will be sold or crushed.

    A man's been jailed for 20 years after police said he deliberately mowed down a man with his car and left him with permanent brain injuries.

    Ibrar Ali hit his victim on Hillaries Road in Erdington, Birmingham, in August last year.

    West Midlands Police said, at the time, the 26-year-old victim was one of three men running down the street armed with baseball bats and machetes, external.

    They say they believe the attack was due to a feud between two groups.

    Ali, 20, of The Broadway, Perry Barr, was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent and causing grievous bodily harm.

    A date's still not been set for when a flyover will reopen, more than a month after it was shut over safety concerns.

    Repairs were carried out and samples of the concrete taken earlier this month to try to find out why the hole opened up.

    The results of those tests are due back to the city council today which says it expects to set out how long the repairs will take early next week.

    Birmingham MP Liam Byrne was among thousands of people gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London on Thursday to protest against the country's decision to place part of Kashmir under lockdown.

    The Hodge Hill MP called for Indian PM Narendra Modi to "end the shutdown" in the region and pull out troops.

    The disputed territory has been the site of decades of sporadic conflict.

    Mr Modi's said the removal of Kashmir's special status, which gave it significant autonomy from the rest of India, would restore the region to its "past glory".

    But, addressing the crowds in London,, external Mr Byrne said: "You can try and shut up a parliament but Mr Modi, you can't shut up a people and we here will not be silenced."

    A motorcyclist has suffered "multiple serious injuries" in a crash involving a car in Wolverhampton last night, West Midlands Ambulance Service has said.

    An ambulance crew was called to Coleman Street at 18:55 and found the motorcyclist had come off his bike and had become stuck underneath a van.
