  1. Plans for new £35m recycling plantpublished at 10:09 British Summer Time 21 August 2019

    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Plans have been put forward for a new £35m recycling centre in Coventry.

In order for it to be commercially viable it would need to bring in rubbish from across the West Midlands to save cash.

The current recycling system in Coventry costs more than £1.5m a year for the 24,000 tonnes the city currently recycles. If the new plant gets the go-ahead, it could recycle at least 120,000 tonnes a year.

    Quote Message

Not one of us is big enough on our own to build our own plant. We need to have a critical mass of recycling waste to be able to process it to make it economically viable."

  7. The unbelievable hangover caused by Pure-Opublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 21 August 2019

Sarah Collins has a type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which occasionally creates false memories for her - Pure-O.

"A few years ago, when I finished my A-Levels, I went on a night out with friends," she told BBC Ouch, as part of her performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

    Sarah Collins

"When I got home, I realised I'd over done it. I was due to go shopping in Birmingham with my sister the next day and knew that, without prevention, my plans would be derailed by a seriously vindictive hangover."

She remembered taking paracetemol to ease said hangover, but in the morning couldn't shake the thought she had taken a whole box.

"I ran downstairs in search of the empty box or boxes, the abandoned packets on the counter," she said, but there was nothing on the counter nor in the bin or the recycling.

In a panic, she went to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, worried she had overdosed.

"But when I tried to recall the 24 tablets, the recycling, the hospital bed, I couldn't find them. They just morphed into other terrible fears and 'what ifs'?", she said.

"I heard my own voice, underneath the chatter: 'Turn around and walk away'."

Daniel Kennell, 27, was murdered by a man he had gone to school with, "through 10 seconds of stupid jealous and selfish anger", his mother and campaigner, Mandy Blake, said.

"Hopefully when anyone who sees our Daniel's face on this taxi, and hopefully in many other places to come, it will make someone stop and think about the reality of what carrying a knife can do."

At the moment, the Daniel Kennell Foundation - set up in his memory - has put the poster on one taxi, but has plans to put it on more in the near future.
