    A man was stabbed at the club on Vyse Street at around 04:30 on Sunday and remains in hospital with serious injuries, police said.

    A man from Coventry has admitted raping a 14-year-old girl in an alleyway in Rugby.

    Mujdat Altuntas, 28, of Edmund Road, also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager during an appearance at Warwick Crown Court.

    The teenager was attacked by Altuntas on the evening on 17 July.

    He was remanded in custody and is due to appear back in court for sentencing on 23 September.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked outside a bar in Leamington Spa on Sunday.

    Warwickshire Police said a man in his 30s suffered serious facial injuries when he was assaulted outside Murphy's Bar in Regent Street at around 01:15.

    "There were a number of people in the area at the time and we're keen for them to come forward," Det Con Ed Doxey said.

    A 48-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause GBH in connection with the incident has since been released under investigation.

    A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after the death of a 10-year-old boy today in Birmingham.

    The boy was discovered in Blossomville Way, Acocks Green, on Thursday morning and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    His death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, West Midlands Police said.

    A 23-year-old man who was one of the youngest people in the UK to have a mechanical heart pump died due to complications with the device, an inquest has ruled.

    Jim Lynskey, from Redditch, was fitted with the pump as a 19-year-old in 2015 after his heart was damaged by meningitis as a baby.

    Louise Hunt, senior coroner for Birmingham and Solihull, recorded that Mr Lynskey suffered multiple organ failure caused by severe internal bleeding after an operation to resolve the pain he was in due to the heart pump in May this year.

    The Prince of Wales pub in Shrewsbury could be named pub of the year after being listed among 16 finalists.

    The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) said each of the 16 establishments highlighted something unique about Britain's pub scene.

    "The top 16 contenders boast the perfect mix of the essential characteristics which make a great pub - great service, a welcoming atmosphere, fantastic decor, great value for money, and, most importantly, quality real ale," Ben Wilkinson, Camra's national director, said.

    The Prince of Wales has previously come out on top three times: In 2015, 2016 and 2017.

    The winner will be named in the new year.

    More than 60 residents, activists and firefighters protested last night, claiming the area's seen a rise in call-outs in recent years.

    The fire service disputes that, saying call-outs have fallen 10% since 2010 and the relocation of staff won't lead to fewer fire engines.

    A woman's been spared a prison sentence despite admitting falsely claiming £10,000 in disability benefits while working full-time.

    Victoria Antill had told authorities she suffered from a string of illnesses and couldn't walk without assistance or go to the toilet herself, Stafford Crown Court heard.

    But the 36-year-old, of Oak Road, Brewood, was filmed entering and leaving an office without difficulty, climbing two flights of stairs and entered running events.

    The court was also told she had sent letters to the Department for Work and Pensions posing as her GP.

    Antill pleaded guilty to three counts of dishonestly failing to notify authorities after starting work and one charge of dishonestly making a false statement.

    She was given a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, told to go on a rehabilitation programme and ordered to repay £50 a month for three years.

    More than one-and-a-half tonnes of rubbish has been collected so far this year by a community group in Stafford.

    Stafford Litter Heroes was set up last year after members of a Facebook group said they'd noticed more litter in their area.

    Two men who kept animals in "appalling" conditions at a pet shop in Birmingham have been sentenced after admitting animal welfare offences.

    Nazar Hussain, of Rotherfield Road in Sheldon, and Mohammed Nabeel, of Ludlow Road in Alum Rock, kept animals in dirty cages without water at their shop, Bordesley Green Pets and Aquatics, Birmingham City Council said.

    Among the neglected animals, inspectors from Birmingham City Council and the RSPCA said they found a cockatiel with an obvious injury to its wing, which later had to be put to sleep, a female cat with mammary growths, another cat chained up in the back of the shop and a third cat kept in a small cage with no food, water, bedding or litter tray.

    Judge Jan Jellema said there was "scant evidence of any affection for animals" at the shop.

    They each received a 10-week jail sentence, suspended for a year, at Birmingham Magistrates' Court and were disqualified from keeping animals or a pet shop for 10 years.

    A consultation has been launched on plans to cut emergency dental services in the West Midlands.

    NHS England and Improvement is proposing to reduce the number of out-of-hours weekend and bank holiday sites from 13 to eight, with longer opening hours.

    It also plans to reduce weekday evening sites from eight to five with longer opening hours.

    Two Warwickshire sites in Bedworth and Stratford-upon-Avon are among those set for closure, alongside one in Solihull.
