    Temporary traffic lights have been installed on the A46 Alcester Road in Warwickshire to allow engineers to repair a burst water main.

    The pipe burst shortly before 03:30, said Severn Trent Water.

    The traffic lights, allowing one lane open past the site, are expected to be in place for the rest of the day.

    Poplar Road in Solihull remains closed at the junction of Warwick Road after the death of a woman hit by a bus.

    The pedestrian was hit at about 07:30 and died at the scene, the ambulance service said earlier.

    Buses are unable to serve the area and are being diverted.

    An investigation is being carried out.

    The woman hit by a bus this morning in Solihull has died, West Midlands Ambulance Service has said, external.

    She was walking on Poplar Road at about 07:30 when it happened. The road was sealed off by officers as part of their investigation.

    The ambulance service said she was critically hurt and died at the scene.

    The family of a five-year-old boy say they won't give up despite his leukaemia returning.

    In May, five-year-old Oscar Saxelby-Lee, from Worcester, had a stem cell transplant after a match was found when about 5,000 people joined a donor register.

    But his mother Olivia Saxelby said, after three months of recovery, doctors told them the "devastating news" that his cancer had returned.

    They're now trying to raise £500,000 to fund either another transplant outside the NHS or for experimental treatment in Singapore., external

    The clearance of ancient woodland for the HS2 high-speed rail line is to be stopped while the project is reviewed, the transport secretary has announced.

    The first phase of the project, which links up London and Birmingham is already delayed by up to five years and billions of pounds over the original budget.

    The government has ordered a review of the scheme, led by the firm's former chairman Douglas Oakervee.

    Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has ordered HS2 Ltd, the company building the railway, to assess what work can be halted until after the inquiry is completed.

    A speedway stadium in Staffordshire attracted its "biggest crowd in 20 years" for its last ever meeting.

    On an emotional night at the Stoke Speedway for The Potters, they ended up losing to Leicester Lion Cubs in front of hundreds of people.

    The team had been racing at Loomer Road for the last 32 years but, earlier this month, revealed the stadium had been sold by its owners. , external

    Club promoter Dave Tattum said he had never seen so many people, but didn't think speedway would return as "who has got an investment to build a £3m stadium around here?"

    His view was echoed by Luke Priest, one of the riders on Saturday: "It's one of those sports that, once it goes, it's very, very hard to get back again."

    The cordon was placed around Hinton Road, in Hereford.

    West Mercia Police said officers arrested a 65-year-old man at about 07:30 and reduced the cordon to just around the house itself while investigations continue.

    The force hasn't revealed whether a gun was found.

    Knife bins are being installed at four Warwickshire Police stations as part of a nationwide crackdown on knife crime.

    There were 272 knife-related incidents in the county in the 12 months to March this year as knife crime rose 8% across England and Wales.

    West Midlands Police has used a convicted murderer to front its latest anti-knife campaign.
