    A "much-loved" giraffe at Twycross Zoo has died after having surgery on his deformed hoof.

    The zoo said the decision to carry out the "high risk" procedure on 11-year-old Epesi was not taken lightly but was considered to be in his best interest.

    Dr Matyas Liptovszky, head of life sciences at Twycross Zoo, said: "It is with great sadness that despite our dedicated team's concerted efforts, he never regained consciousness.

    "Epsei had a wonderful character and was very popular with our visitors. We will all miss him."

    Four arrests have now been made following a stabbing in Worcester city centre last Friday.

    The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital after being attacked on New Street at around 18:00.

    West Mercia Police said a 39-year-old man from Worcester, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed and a 45-year-old man from Worcester, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has also been bailed.

    A 44-year-old woman and 54-year-old man, both from Worcester and arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released under investigation.

    The Stoke City striker Lee Gregory says the club has "two big games" this week, as they look to progress in the League Cup and then host Nottingham Forest in the league.

    They climbed off the bottom of the Championship at the weekend with a 0-0 draw away to Brentford, but have still not won a league game in 168 days.

    A teenager has been charged with murder, after a man was fatally injured during a row in a street.

    Amaan Momand, 23, was attacked on Alcester Road South, Maypole, Birmingham, on Thursday and died in hospital on Sunday.

    A post-mortem examination has shown that he died from a head injury.

    The 17-year-old, arrested from an address in Handsworth on Sunday, is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court later.

    Jamie Taylor, 21, of Tidworth Croft, Kings Heath, was charged with wounding before the victim died and has been remanded into custody after appearing in court.

    That charge will be reviewed in due course in light of Mr Momand’s death, said West Midlands Police.
