    Drivers are being warned of heavy traffic on the M6 from junction 10 to junction five due to a broken-down HGV.

    Highways England said the vehicle has now been cleared by officers, but congestion remains.

    It says it hopes the traffic will disperse "in due course".

    To enable the two-day work to be carried out safely, Shropshire Council said temporary traffic lights will be used and some disruption to traffic is expected

    Black History Month is underway and musicians have come together in Birmingham to celebrate the city's diversity.

    The focus of this year's event is the "next generation" and is about encouraging emerging talent.

    Reggae artist Apache Indian, who has his own music academy in the city, is working alongside the Symphony Hall offering jazz education to young people.

    A BBC investigation has found one in 20 children in England is in a school that has not been inspected for more than 10 years

    In Shropshire, more than 2,500 pupils are attending schools not inspected by Ofsted for ten or more years.

    Five schools were rated outstanding between 2006 and 2009.

    It meant that they became exempt from inspection under changes meant to aim Ofsted resources at poorly performing schools.

    The longest time goes to Welshampton Church of England Primary, last inspected 13 years ago.

  5. Arrest after driver hits treepublished at 07:37 British Summer Time 2 October 2019

    Police have taken to Twitter to share what happened to one vehicle that failed to stop for officers in Telford last night.

    OPU Shropshire, at West Mercia Police said this motorist's "driving skills failed" after hitting a tree at the Greyhound Interchange.

    In the post, officers said one person was taken into custody for various offences.

  7. Arrest as man killed in road traffic collisionpublished at 07:23 British Summer Time 2 October 2019

    A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist died following a crash.

    Officers were called to a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist and multiple vehicles on St Peters Bridge, Burton-upon Trent, at around 17:00.

    The motorcyclist was pronounced dead a short while later.

    A 72-year-old man from Lichfield was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, police said.

    Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

  20. Fallen tree closes roadpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 1 October 2019

    A Droitwich road was after a large tree fell onto vehicles.

    It came down on Victoria Square, leading to St Andrews Road, just after 10:30 BST, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said.

    Crews from the fire service had been helping to make the area safe, isolating the tree light electrics and cordoning off the scene.
