    A week after heavy rain led to flooding across the West Midlands, the Environment Agency still has flood alerts, external in place in Shropshire and Staffordshire.

    It says water levels are falling but warns people to be careful on land around the rivers Vyrnwy, Severn, Sow, Penk and Trent.

    The Environment Agency also warned that flooding could worsen with more rain forecast in the next few days.

    Two West Midlands restaurants have been awarded their first Michelin Stars, external.

    Pensons at Stoke Bliss, on the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border is described as a "delightful barn" where "Scandic-style dishes deliver well-balanced flavours and foraging, fermenting and pickling all play their part."

    And Opheem in Birmingham, which is run by Gordon Ramsay F-Word winner. Aktar Islam (pictured above), is praised for its "bold decorative style" and the guide describes the food as "visually arresting dishes with distinct, defined flavours".

    A man has been stabbed in the back after two men broke into his home in Coventry this morning.

    West Midlands Police said the pair also punched the man in the face and body after threatening him at the house on Lyndale Road at 01:30.

    The victim, who is in his 30s, is in hospital in a serious but stable condition, and the force describes him as "a vulnerable man that was deliberately targeted".

    Stoke City midfielder Sam Clucas says the team isn't getting carried away after beating Swansea on Saturday.

    It was their first league win of the season and Clucas said: "It's one win, it's not good enough; the position where we are is not good enough."

    A accident prevention scheme designed to keep deer away from the road is being expanded in Staffordshire.

    The deer deterrents use lights and sounds to stop the animals approaching on the A513 near Shugborough and they're activated by car headlights.

    The scheme is now set to run along a stretch of Penkridge Bank Road with signs to alert drivers.

    Staffordshire Council said it saw a 60% decrease in night-time deer collisions in the first year the deterrents were used.

    Police say they have stepped up patrols in Sutton Coldfield after ten reported burglaries since Friday.

    Thieves are predominantly trying to steal car keys from houses in the area to then take vehicles from driveways, says West Midlands Police.

    The force is warning residents not to take car keys upstairs at night.

    "If they are persistent enough to break-in, it's best they take the keys and go," said Insp Glynis Tomlinson.

    The father of a teenager stabbed to death outside a McDonald's has spoken of his difficulties showing emotion over the killing.

    Ozell Pemberton, 16, who was described as "one of a kind" by his parents, was stabbed in the chest in Sutton Coldfield town centre on 17 May.

    On the Victoria Derbyshire programme, his father AJ joined ten other men who have lost a son, brother, nephew or friend to knife crime

    He said that as men "we feel as if we're not allowed to show our emotions".

    He said: "If everyone's cracking, who's holding this thing together?"

    A man has been charged with the murder of a man injured in a street robbery last month.

    Mark Lloyd was left in a critical condition after being assaulted on Aldridge Road in Perry Barr, Birmingham, on 21 September, and died in hospital on Sunday 29 September.

    Sean Sweeney, 26, who was previously arrested on suspicion of robbery, has been charged with murder and is set to appear in court on 15 October.

    Shannon Cronin, 23, has also been charged with Mr Lloyd's murder.

    A cyber-security millionaire has bought Charles Darwin's childhood home in Shrewsbury, with the aim of turning it into a centre for research into the natural sciences.

    Louis-James Davis, the founder of VST Enterprises Ltd, is spending £100m to restore The Mount and make it a base for young scientists from all over the world who want to challenge conventional thinking.
