  1. Fresh calls for Coventry parking sign changespublished at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2019

There are fresh calls for parking signs in Coventry to be changed - after more criticism of the council's policy.

The Independent Traffic Penalty Tribunal says it's disappointed to still be overturning fines in the city, 18 months after it told the council its signage was inadequate and had to be amended.

Previously, the organisation said the signs made the city's restricted parking zone unclear, and that the increased number of fines showed motorists didn't understand restrictions.

In a statement, the council said it maintained its position over the zone, adding: "As far as we are concerned our signage meets the requirements as set out by the Department for Transport."

  4. Leaning gravestones 'pose wall collapse risk'published at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2019

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

A graveyard wall is in danger of falling down because of the weight of gravestones leaning against it, a parish council has been warned.

Around 100 stones are propped up against the wall at St Michael and All Angels church in Lilleshall, Shropshire, after being moved there 50 years ago to make the grass easier to cut.

Lilleshall Parish Council heard the wall was half a foot out of line in some places. Its clerk has been in touch with Telford and Wrekin Council, the Diocese of Lichfield and English Heritage about possible repairs.

One parish councillor warned of a collapse risk.

What we can see is it’s a good distance, maybe six inches, out of plumb. There are areas... that look like they could fall with a heavy frost.”

  8. Wolverhampton traveller site decision deferredpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2019

A decision on plans for a transit site for travellers in Wolverhampton has been deferred until the new year.

Tim Johnson, chief executive at the authority, said: “It’s important we properly consider the application and the representations that have been made before it goes to planning committee."

The issue is due to be discussed at the planning committee meeting on Tuesday 14 January.
