    A woman who saved her family farm by setting up a charity and selling shares in it has been given an award by a group that supports rural communities.

    The Plunkett Foundation said Charlotte Hollins from the Fordhall Community Land Initiative "has shown what is possible through community ownership – and pushed on with a wide variety of projects which make Fordhall the diverse and successful place it is today."

    The Plunkett Foundation said it was the first time a fellowship had been given to the founder of a community business.

    Charlotte Hollins said: "I’m taking this award on behalf of all the volunteers, supporters and staff who have worked with us to allow Fordhall to have come as far as it has today.”

    Firefighters were called to reports of a tumble dryer fire at Marten Hill in Swinscoe at around 19:50 yesterday.

    Herefordshire Council could spend £100m to build social housing.

    The proposal is to spend the money over four years, starting in 2022 and a report going before councillors says the money generated from rents could cover the costs of the borrowing needed.

    The council said its focus would be on providing one and two-bed homes, which are in short supply.

    Council leader David Hitchiner said about 1,000 homes would be built and it wouldn't be enough to disrupt the local housing market.

    A man has been charged with racially aggravated common assault after an attack on a National Express employee, police say.

    The staff member was attacked during an incident on 4 July.

    The 18-year-old suspect from Birmingham, also charged with racially aggravated public order and common assault, is due in court on 8 January.

    A seven-year-old boy with a rare immune system disorder has had a stem cell transplant.

    Finley Hill, from Belbroughton, Worcestershire, learnt in September a donor-match had been found in Brazil, after thousands came forward to be tested for their suitability.

    Finley's family said on Facebook it would be about three weeks before they find out whether the procedure has worked.

    The Shrewsbury Town midfielder Lenell John-Lewis has said he's looking for a new contract, after returning from a long-term knee injury.

    He said: "It feels like I've been here a long time. I love the club, it's a fantastic place to work. The club's moving places and I want to be a part of it."

    The 30-year-old's contract is up in January and he has just returned to the team, coming on as a substitute against Macclesfield in the EFL Trophy.
