    Worcestershire residents are being warned there could be more flooding on the way with rain forecast over the next 48 hours.

    There are currently two flood warnings, meaning flooding is expected, on the River Severn south of Worcester and the River Teme at Stanford Bridge, between Bromyard and Stourport-on-Severn., external

    The Environment Agency also has more than 15 flood alerts dotted across the West Midlands.

    From curries to roasts, cooks are using Facebook to sell hot dinners prepared in home kitchens.

    The BBC has found thousands of listings for "homemade food" but campaigners want this emerging market regulated and subject to council hygiene inspections.

    Among those discovered on Facebook is Annise Middleton from Stoke-on-Trent who makes about 30 roast dinners every Sunday to customers who've placed orders via social media.

    Ms Middleton used to work in community care but now runs her business - which is registered with her local council - from her kitchen at home.

    She said: "I'm a mum of four and I struggle with childcare, but hate being out of work, so I thought, what can I do from home?"

    Leintwardine Endowed C of E Primary School, on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border has said it will be closed on Friday due to localised flooding and the weather forecast for the next 24 hours.

    It said staff were unable to get to and from school.

  10. Flood warning for homes and roadspublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2019

    A flood alert for Stanford Bridge in Herefordshire has been upgraded to a flood warning, with the Environment Agency saying homes and roads were likely to flood.

    The River Teme is expected to peak there on Friday morning.

    A flood warning also remains in force at Kempsey, south of Worcester.

    More than 160 less serious flood alerts are in place across England, including for parts of Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

    Hereford & Worcester Fire Service said a passing 4x4 had helped to rescue a driver stuck in floodwater near Leintwardine at about 15:30.

    And with Worcestershire County Cricket Club's New Road ground flooded yet again, the club came up with a novel use for the pitch:

  11. Birmingham man charged with terrorism offencespublished at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2019

    A man from Birmingham has been charged with terrorism offences.

    Salim Youssufi, 25, an Italian national living in Coventry Road, Small Heath, has been charged with four counts of possessing information useful for committing or preparing an act of terrorism, West Midlands Police said.

    Mr Youssufi was arrested on 13 December and is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

    A 23-year-old Italian woman, who was also arrested at the same time, has been released without charge and is being dealt with by immigration authorities, officers added.

    Birmingham chef Stu Deeley and Olivia Burt, who was born in Worcestershire and educated in Shropshire, go head-to-head in the finals of Masterchef: The Professionals on BBC Two tonight.

    The pair are joined in the final three by Exose Lopo-Ndinga from Manchester.

    Olivia, whose family still live in Herefordshire, cooked a dish inspired by the county to see her through to the finals.

    She is currently a sous chef at a five-star Mayfair hotel in London, but ultimately wants to open her own restaurant.

    Stu, meanwhile describes himself as "Brummie, born and bred" and learned cookery at Halesowen College before training at the Michelin-starred Simpsons in the city.

    He is due to finish as head chef at The Wilderness this week, before taking on another project.

  14. Queen speech: Commitment to Midlands Rail Hubpublished at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2019

    The Queen's speech has reaffirmed the government's commitment to plans for improved rail services across the Midlands, a transport body has said.

    The £2bn Midlands Rail Hub proposals aim to ensure that an additional 24 trains will be able to serve Birmingham, Coventry and Hereford and Worcester every hour along with Leicester, Nottingham and Derby.

    It is part of the government's "major investments in the railway" which will "improve services around Birmingham and throughout the West and East Midlands", the speech said.

    Maria Machancoses, director of Midlands Connect, which has put forward the plans, said the organisation would be calling for further investment next year for its £3.5bn Midlands Engine Rail programme to provide 700 new passenger services.

    The firm also encouraged the government to "commit to HS2 as soon as possible".

  16. Two pairs of brothers jailed over violent attackspublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2019

    Two pairs of brothers have been jailed over a series of violent attacks on men in Birmingham.

    Brothers Jacob and Nathan Emanuel attacked Ishaaq Ayaz with a shotgun at a flat in Strensham Court, Edgbaston and shot visitor Mustafa Afsar in the face leaving him "blind, disfigured and partially deaf" in April 2019, West Midlands Police said.

    On 2 May, two other brothers, Mohammed Luqman and Mohammed Osman kidnapped Hasan Khan from the street in Balsall Heath and he received life-threatening injuries after being stabbed three times in the neck, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

    Officers described the events as a "mini war" "linked to the drugs trade".

    The men were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court earlier:

    • Jacob Emanuel, 36, of Gregg Court, Edgbaston Road, Birmingham pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and attempted murder. He received a sentence of 32 years imprisonment.
    • Nathan Emanuel, 45, Grange Road, Small Heath was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and attempted murder. He was handed a 41-year sentence.
    • Mohammed Osman, 31, of Edgbaston Road, Balsall Heath, was convicted of attempted murder and received a 25-year sentence.
    • Mohammed Luqman, 21, of Charles Road, Aston, was convicted of kidnap and causing grievous bodily harm. He was given a 17-year sentence.
  17. Relatives angry about Stafford Hospital dramapublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2019

    Campaigners who lost relatives in the Stafford Hospital scandal say they are angry Channel 4 has made a drama about the story without their consent.

    Hundreds of people died at the hospital due to what an inquiry called appalling levels of care.

    The campaigners have written to Channel 4 asking them not to broadcast “The Cure”, due to air tonight.

    A spokesperson for Channel Four said it made contact with several people involved with or affected by this story.

    "We appreciate it is a sensitive subject and have handled the portrayal of what happened with the utmost care and respect," they said.

    "The information is already in the public domain – we are telling a story which has been widely reported on."
