    A major development planned in Shrewsbury has moved a step forward after the latest plans were submitted for approval.

    Bovis Homes has already had outline permission for up to 550 homes, a 70-bed care home, a community hub and children’s play area in Oteley Road.

    Shropshire Council has earmarked land south of the road as a development site.

    Now the company has asked for layout, landscaping and the scale of the scheme to be approved by planning chiefs.

    West Midlands Police started its campaign targeting car thieves in August 2018 and said it had seen a surge in tip-offs from people reporting suspect garages and industrial units.

    Officers said thieves used the sites to strip down parts and sell them online or used them to repair salvage vehicles.

    The latest raid, off Brighton Road, Sparkbrook, saw officers find five stolen cars including a Leon Cupra, which had been reported taken in Cumbria.

    A man suffered a serious injury after being pushed to the ground and kicked by two men on a street in Crewe, police said.

    The 48-year-old was walking on Nantwich Road on Sunday morning when Cheshire Police said, external two men, who he didn't know, came up to him.

    They started shouting at him before pushing him over and attacking him.

    The victim needed hospital treatment but officers said he had since been discharged.
