A Staffordshire pub - one of the last surviving 18th Century buildings on a busy street - is one of 11 to be given updated listed status by Historic England.
The Grade II Red Lion in Rugeley retains an unusual salt safe and inter-war interior, including panelling and fireplaces.
Duncan Wilson, chief executive of Historic England, said: "English pubs are some of our best-loved community buildings and are often threatened with closure so we are delighted to see 11 historic pubs receiving further protection."
The listings have been made by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on the advice of Historic England.
A works vehicle has broken down within J14 of the M6 northbound, closing the carriageway.
Recovery workers are on site to repair the vehicle, says Highways England.
Traffic is being diverted around the scene, with nearly 10 miles of queuing traffic on the approach.

It's shut from J1 for West Bromwich to the M6 interchange.
The death is being treated as unexplained, says the West Midlands force.
A vigil has been held in Coventry for a boy who was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening.
A small group gathered at a community centre in Radford in memory of the 15-year-old who was found on grassland off Petitor Crescent, Wood End.

Stop-and-search powers are being used by police in a part of Coventry where the body of a 15-year-old boy was found with multiple stab wounds.
The victim was found on grassland off Petitor Crescent, Wood End, by a member of the public at about 19:00 on Wednesday.
Police are using the section 60 powers in the Wood End area until 02:00 on Friday in response to the stabbing.
The powers allow officers to stop and search individuals "without the need to show reasonable grounds" for the checks.

There are severe delays on the M6 northbound in Staffordshire with the main carriageway closed at J14.
Overnight works were due to finish at 06:00 but have overrun, said Highways England. A broken-down works vehicle is stuck.
There's more than nine miles of queuing traffic in the area, with congestion back to J12.

Plans to build another 175 homes in Ross-on-Wye will be going before Herefordshire councillors.
Edenstone Homes is asking for permission to build on land to the east of the A40, close to the site where 290 homes are already under construction.
A number of people living in the town have raised concerns, saying services in the town won't be able to cope.
The plans are expected to considered by 20 March.
A white water facility in Pershore, a BMX track in Evesham and new wetland and wildlife habitats are all being planned by Wychavon District Council.
They're included in its spending plans for the next four years along with a commitment to tackle congestion in Evesham and a promise to open the district's first health and wellbeing centre.
Councillors also voted to freeze council tax for the third year in a row.
