    Police are appealing for more information after the death of an 18-year-old in a crash near Crewe.

    Francesca Bugliarello, from Sandbach, was a passenger in a car that was involved in a collision with a lorry on Haslington bypass in the early hours of Saturday.

    Her family say she will "live forever in their hearts".

    A 17-year-old from Crewe, who was driving the car, was arrested and has been released under investigation pending further investigation, police said.

    Coventry City Council has begun a clean-up of a site after the eviction of travellers.

    They set up camp at Top Green park in the city earlier this week.

    The council put an eviction order up, and the vehicles had left the area by this morning with council clean-up teams moving in.

    Human rights campaigner Malala Yousafzai has expressed her "joy and gratitude" at graduating from Oxford.

    The 22-year-old, who survived a shot to the head by Taliban soldiers, studied politics, philosophy, and economics at Lady Margaret Hall.

    Tweeting earlier, external, she said: "I don't know what's ahead. For now, it will be Netflix, reading and sleep."

    Ms Yousafzai was attacked for saying girls should be allowed to stay in education.

    After recovering from her near-fatal injuries at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, she and her family made their home in the city.

    Michael O'Neill is hopeful he will be able to take charge of Stoke City at Reading on Saturday, nearly two weeks after testing positive for coronavirus.

    The ex-Northern Ireland boss has been self-isolating ever since, but is due to return to training later.

    O'Neill has not shown any symptoms since the "shock" of his positive test.

    "As things stand at the minute I'm asymptomatic and looking forward to getting back into the club," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

    Flowers and a toy car have been left outside a property where a six-year-old boy has died after suffering serious head injuries.

    Officers were called to Cranmore Road in Shirley, Solihull, at about 15:00 on Tuesday.

    The boy was found by paramedics in a critical condition and died in hospital in the early hours of Wednesday. A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

    A man, aged 27, and a woman, 31, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody.

    An application for a 1,600-space car park for University Hospital in Coventry has been granted permission.

    The new staff-only car park is to be built at the rear of the hospital to help ease pressure on the current parking facility, freeing up spaces for visitors.

    Parking has been a “nightmare” at the site, councillors at a planning committee admitted, while highways officers said the move would help reduce congestion heading in to the hospital site.

    The site location raised concern as it is on a designated flood zone near to the River Sowe and requires crash barriers to stop “unattended vehicles floating away,” the meeting heard.

    The huge oxygen cylinder which has been making its way slowly across Staffordshire for the past few days has become an unlikely attraction for people.

    It might be due to the lockdown but crowds have regularly been turning out along the route as the wide load travelled across the county, having begun its journey on Monday in Cheshire.

  11. Council aims to keep rough sleepers off the streetpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 19 June 2020

    Telford and Wrekin Council has said it is "committed to seeing no return to rough sleeping" once the coronavirus pandemic is over.

    During lockdown more than 200 people in the borough have been housed or stopped from being evicted and it said it wanted that to continue.

    Members of the public in Telford and Wrekin will be asked to report people who are rough sleeping in the borough, so that the council can offer them support.

    The local authority says the scheme is aimed at helping people and "not to be critical".

    "We cannot wait for the government to make a decision," Peter Borg-Neal wrote on Twitter, external.

    The government has said pubs would not be able to reopen until July at the earliest under lockdown measures.

    But it has not yet given a definitive date for reopening pubs, despite pressure from the industry.

  19. New parcel box to go on trialpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 19 June 2020

    A new "parcel box" is going to appear in Walsall town centre, as part of a nationwide trial to battle Covid-19.

    The 6ft wide steel box, twice the size of a standard mail box, will allow the public to post large parcels, which would normally have to be sent via Post Offices.

    Royal Mail said it would help people avoid the trip to the Post Office if they wish, so they can minimise contact with others.
