    Wolves' 2019-20 season began on 25 July 2019 with a Thursday night Europa League second qualifying round tie against against Northern Ireland's Crusaders - and it isn't over yet as they prepare for next month's Europa League knockout stages.

    All the while, Wolves have fought valiantly in the Premier League to remain in the hunt for a Champions League place almost until the very end.

    In an exhausting campaign, Nuno Espirito Santo's side twice beat reigning champions Manchester City, while no club won more Premier League games having trailed at half-time.

    A walk-in test centre is to open outside the Crown and Anchor pub in Stone pub after 10 people tested positive for Covid-19.

    The local authority is urging anyone who visited between 16-18 July to get tested.

    Dr Richard Harling, director of public health at Staffordshire County Council,said: "People who caught it at the pub could still be infectious."

    "we're not just talking about people who were at the pub, we're talking about people who were in contact with other people who were at the pub and we'd like them to come forward and get tested."

    Dr Harling said one person who tested positive from being at the pub, then held a private gathering, causing a further spread.

    People who attended a pub are being urged to get tested after 10 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed.

    Health officials said anyone who was at The Crown and Anchor in Stone, Staffordshire, between 16-18 July should get tested.

    Dr Richard Harling, director of public health at Staffordshire County Council, said two transmission events had been identified.

    In a post shared on Facebook,, external the pub said it would be closing this weekend.

    It added "due to the overwhelming amount of people visiting", it would be closing to "review our risk assessment in order to deal with the difficulty that we faced with social distancing".

    Telford Tigers have announced their first signing for the new season - forward Brandon Whistle.

    He scored 69 points for the double-winners after joining them mid-way through the season, including vital goals in their cup run.

    Tom Watkins, the Tigers head coach and general manager, said he had "showed his ability in the key games towards the end of the season."

    Bidford Bridge is among those in need of renovation along with Castle Bridge (pictured below) in Warwick and Bretford Bridge, near Rugby.

    Cash was taken along with eight gold sovereign coins which the force said date back to the early 20th Century.

    Gyms and swimming pools will reopen in Sandwell next week despite a rise in the number of positive Covid-19 cases in the borough.

    Public Health England said the rate of infection in the area was 27.2 new cases per 100,000 people for the seven days to 24 July, compared to 21.7 the week before.

    The figure is way below a current hotspot like Blackburn with Darwen which had 75.2 cases per 100,000 up to 24 July.

    The Sandwell Leisure Trust, which runs the nine centres in Sandwell for the council, said it would start by reopening four of them from 6 August and monitor customer confidence and demand.

    Titled 'The end of lockdown', Mr Spence said the idea came while he was chitting his potato crop at his allotment in Warwick.

    The judging panel, which included celebrated photographers Martin Parr and Paul Hill, recognised Mr Spence's photo as "delightful, imaginative and .... a bit bonkers".

    Like his subject, Mr Spence has been able to get to the barber since lockdown eased however his muse has "since been disposed of in the compost".

  18. Road to hospital to close for fortnightpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 28 July 2020

    A bridge which carries traffic from the A5 to the orthopaedic hospital near Gobowen will be closed for repairs from next Monday.

    Twmpath Bridge will stay open for pedestrians and cyclists but cars and lorries will have to take a detour, through either Whittington or Gobowen.

    The repairs are due to take a fortnight to complete.
