    People are being reminded not to bring potentially explosive devices in to police stations after someone brought a military shell to Leek police station yesterday afternoon.

    Army bomb disposal experts were called to the office on Fountain Street when the object was found in a garage during a house clearance and dropped off in the yard.

    A young girl is still in hospital with very serious injuries after being hit by a car in Kidderminster yesterday.

    She was struck as she crossed the road with a woman just after 15:00 at the Sutton Park Road junction with Stourport Road.

    The woman, who's in her 40s, was also pushing a pram, but the baby wasn't hurt.

    A Wolverhampton barbers has been shut down for repeatedly failing to follow Covid-safe guidelines.

    Naz Barbers in Blakenhall was issued with the closure notice for failing to provide staff with PPE and customers weren't wearing face coverings.

    The city council said its environmental health team first visited the Dudley Road shop in April, after receiving complaints that it was operating during the lockdown.

    Investigations are continuing into a unknown substance found at a flat in Burslem where a man was found dead on Tuesday.

    An Army bomb disposal unit was sent to the property on Federation Road when the body was found, but Staffordshire Police said the death of the 31-year-old was not being treated as suspicious.

    The former Wasps player James Haskell believes the players have benefited from doing less training this season.

    He said because the games have been crammed into a few weeks since the restart it has meant "you don't have a million meetings" and he added "some of them are quite enjoying it".

    Wasps are currently second in the Premiership table, so a win at leaders Exeter on Sunday in their final league game will secure them a play-off place.

    Three men are in custody in connection with a police investigation into serious and organised crime in Crewe and Nantwich.

    Cheshire Police said they're aged 16 to 32, and were arrested following raids in Stockport.

    All are being questioned on suspicion of supplying heroin and crack cocaine.

    We had an impressive full moon last night and depending on where you were, it seems it appeared in a range of colours.

    To a BBC Weather Watcher in Telford it appeared to be bright orange, but in Coventry it was photographed in a more traditional white, while in Admaston it went for the beige look.

    • Traders are concerned the impending closure of Shrewsbury's town centre police station could have an impact on response times. Town councillors said they would write to West Mercia Police and the force's Police and Crime Commissioner.
    • Four play areas, including bike and skate facilities in Shrewsbury will get a revamp, with some of the money coming from Shropshire Council's housing company.
    • A rising number of complaints made to Shropshire Council’s highways department aren't being properly investigated a report has found. Managers and complaint-handlers will get extra training as a result.

    A community group has raised the £200,000 it needs to buy a hill in south Shropshire.

    Norbury Hill lies between the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones and the Middle Marches Community Land Trust wanted to bring it in to public ownership, so it can be properly protected.
