    Three men have been arrested following a raid at a factory unit where a "substantial" amount of cannabis was growing,

    On Monday, officers in Redditch executed a warrant at Washford Mill Trading estate in Matchborough.

    Three men aged 17, 24 and 26, who were living inside the property, have been charged with production of Class B Drugs.

    West Mercia Police discovered 10 rooms specially designed for growing cannabis.

    The force said the haul had a street value of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

    Three fines of £10,000 have been issues to people for organising illegal gatherings.

    Warwickshire Police said fines, external were issued to two men following a party with more than 60 guests in Bramcote on 12 September.

    Another fine was issued to a man after a festival at Stratford Recreational Ground was attended by more than 200 people on 24 August.

    Police are appealing again for information after reports of a rape at a park in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Officers cordoned off a large area of Cobridge Park on Leek New Road over the weekend after receiving a call reporting a serious sexual assault shortly after 21:00 on Saturday.

    A 16-year-old boy, from Stoke-on-Trent, who was arrested on suspicion of rape, has been released on conditional bail.

    Matt Hancock has condemned the actions of some students at Coventry University who flouted lockdown restrictions by attending a large party.

    Speaking in Parliament, MP for Dudley north, Marco Longhi called on the health secretary to condemn the scenes at the university "where some students were behaving in a shameful way, up-close-and-personal partying".

    Mr Hancock replied: "The comments that [Mr Longhi] makes are absolutely right.

    "The need for all of us, all of us, to exercise responsibility in a world where a virus can pass asymptomatically without anybody knowing that they have it is sadly a feature of life during this pandemic that I hope will be over sooner rather than later."

    A prison and young offenders institution highlighted for poor levels of self-harm has seen big improvements, a new report has shown.

    A review by the Independent Monitoring Board of Stoke Heath prison and YOI, near Market Drayton, found the number of cases of self-harm had fallen from 425 last year to 328 this year.

    It also said there had also been no suicides or deaths in custody this year, while levels of violence were low, compared with similar institutions.

    The report, external particularly praised the "experienced staff" as well as "strong direction and leadership" from senior managers.

    The report however, highlighted prisoners' struggles to get a job after being released and blamed a lack of government funding for low rates of meaningful activity while in custody.

    More than 270 food safety inspections are now overdue in Lichfield after the Covid-19 pandemic affected the council service.

    There are about 945 premises dealing with food and drink in Lichfield district – of which more than 400 are due to be inspected during the year.

    The coronavirus pandemic has led to delays in completing routine inspections.

    Fiona West, food, health and safety manager told a council meeting: "At this moment we are about 271 inspections overdue.

    "The pandemic has created a considerable backlog of work for us but this is not unusual – this is the case with all authorities across the country."

    She said officers had started to undertake routine inspections, but it had been a "very slow process".

    "We are currently investigating more and more complaints about Covid compliance and we get more service advice requests every day from businesses."

    An officer has been hit by a stolen car during a hit and run incident in Coventry, police say.

    The PC was pushed on to the bonnet of the oncoming black Fiesta in Hermes Crescent, Wood End, at about 21:45 yesterday, West Midlands Police said.

    He was "thrown to the floor" but only suffered minor injuries as the car, later established to be on cloned plates, fled the area.

    The vehicle was found abandoned in Doncaster Close, Wyken, an hour later.

    "The driver tried to mount the kerb to get away.

    "As an officer approached the car they were deliberately driven at and ended up on the bonnet.

    "They were carried a short distance before being flung to the ground and the car was driven away."

    Three men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in St Ives, police have said.

    Police were called to reports of an altercation on Treganna Road between 23:30 and midnight on Wednesday 16 September.

    The 29-year-old victim, a man from Redruth, was found on Chapel Street and taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, which police reported as not being life-threatening.

    Police said an 18-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, all from Birmingham, were arrested on Joannies Avenue on Tuesday night and were in custody.

    Three other men - a 22-year-old man from St Ives, a 17-year-old boy from Birmingham, and a 19-year-old man from St Ives - were also arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.
