While Rugeley Leisure Centre's pool was closed, Cannock Chase Council said problems were found with the facility and repairs carried out alongside putting in new equipment including heating and tiling.

The pool was set to reopen in late November but the authority's leader, Olivia Lyons, told a cabinet meeting further issues had been found.

The tiles around the pool need replacing she told councillors and it had been decided to carry out the work immediately.

"The alternative is to not undertake that work and it could fail at any time," Mrs Lyons added.
