    A motion to rescind the so-called Leadsom amendment, which looked to establish a review of the MPs standards investigation process and delay Owen Paterson's suspension for breaking lobbying rules, has been tabled later.

    Speaking at a news conference about the COP26 climate summit on Sunday, the prime minister was asked how he would respond to those who think he had "got it wrong" over Mr Paterson.

    He replied: "I think I've said quite a lot about parliamentary stuff already. Of course, I think things could certainly have been handled better, let me put it that way, by me."

  5. Bus service begins after metro suspendedpublished at 09:01 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2021

    A dedicated bus service has begun from tram stops between Wolverhampton and Birmingham after the entire tram network was suspended over the weekend.

    West Midlands Metro said permanent repairs were required after more cracks were discovered on vehicles.

    It has not said when services will resume, but repairs are expected to take at least four weeks.

    "To ensure that we can continue to run a safe and reliable service, a decision has been made to remove all 21 trams from service until further notice," its statement said.

    Norwich City have confirmed Dean Smith as the club's new head coach on a two-and-a-half year deal.

    The former Aston Villa boss, 50, succeeds Daniel Farke, who was sacked with the Canaries bottom of the Premier League, five points adrift of safety and with just one win this season.

    Craig Shakespeare, who worked with Smith at Villa Park, will join him as his assistant at Carrow Road.

    Smith's first game in charge will be at home to Southampton on Saturday.
