Bristol City haven't beaten Manchester City in Manchester since 1911 - pre-Titanic.

That was at Hyde Road where quite brilliantly a railway line passed between the terraces and the pitch in one corner.

  15. Football: Success 'a long time coming'published at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

Manchester City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

    Richard Hoskin
    BBC Radio Bristol sports editor

I remember watching a Bristol City game back in 2003 and, in the second half, I noticed in the crowd two then-Yeovil players, Lee Johnson and Darren Way, both in their early twenties.

This was before even Lee's father Gary Johnson had taken charge at Ashton Gate, starting the Johnson-Bristol City love affair.

Yet here were two young men who chose to spend their spare time studying a game.

Here we are 15 years later with Lee Johnson in a League Cup semi-final, while Way has just guided Yeovil to the FA Cup fourth round. Anything they achieve in the game has been a long time coming.

  18. On this day in 1999: Wells Cathedral clock featured on BBC TVpublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    Media caption,

    Watch: See the archive video

On 9th January 1999, BBC Two broadcast a programme called Clockwatch as part of its Time Season.

The programme looked at one of the world's most bizarre clocks, the ornate mechanical timepiece in Wells Cathedral.

As clock winder Paul Fisher explained, the clock shows the phase of the moon as well as the day and time.

  19. Football: Lansdown rewarded for backing Johnsonpublished at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

Manchester City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

    Ed Hadwin
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

This time last year, Bristol City owner Stephen Lansdown seemed to be in the minority in his public support of Lee Johnson, talking about all the good work going on behind the scenes in the recruitment and development of youngsters.

That was not necessarily what fans wanted to hear while the team was mired in a club record losing streak of eight straight league games.

But, as befits a man who's made his fortune offering financial advice, Lansdown's long-term view has certainly paid dividends.

Young players like Josh Brownhill and Callum O'Dowda, who struggled to make an impression last term, are now key men for the Robins, while academy graduates Bobby Reid and Joe Bryan have grown in to the pivotal roles Johnson has given them.

It is the first of three new bases for autistic children planned for Somerset schools in 2018.
