    The opening of a new bus station in Gloucester later this month has been hailed as a "significant milestone" for the city.

    Gloucester City council says the £7.5m bus station is the first step in the ambitious Kings Quarter regeneration scheme planned for the area.

    The glass-fronted bus station will open on 26 October with a cavalcade of 15 vintage buses driving through the city.

    Council leader Paul James said: "This is a significant milestone for us in terms of the regeneration and I believe that it sends out a message that we are determined to deliver the transformation of this part of the city."

    Flood alerts are in place along the coast from Porlock Weir in Somerset to the Wye Estuary in Gloucestershire.

    The Environment Agency is warning people , externalto be prepared for possible flooding as Storm Callum hits the region.

    Defra has handed back the Boots Pharmacy in Amesbury following extensive tests, Wiltshire Council has announced.

    The store will remain closed while the Boots team undertakes some essential maintenance.

    There are two remaining sites affected by the Salisbury and Amesbury incidents which are still to be handed back - the Skripals’ house in Christie Miller Road, Salisbury, and Charlie Rowley’s home in Muggleton Road, Amesbury, where clean-up work is ongoing.

    Somerset and England cricketer Marcus Trescothick's mammoth bike ride for charity was due to finish today, but Storm Callum has prevented the team completing the miles outdoors.

    He was cycling from Keynsham to Cornwall this week to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

    The team were due in St Austell today but have instead switched to an indoor cycle machine.

    A warning of high winds issued by the Met Office has been updated to include parts of Gloucestershire, Bristol and Somerset.

    The warning is in place from 03:00 BST to midnight on Friday.

    There could be some travel disruption and the M48 Severn Bridge crossing has already been closed going eastbound.

    Five furry koalas have arrived at Longleat Safari Park, as part of a new conservation project.

    They arrived from the International Koala Centre of Excellence in Australia overnight.

    It means Longleat is the only place in England where you can see the animals.

    The MP for Melksham Michelle Donelan will visit the town today to talk to members of staff from Cooper Tires who are under threat of redundancy.

    Earlier this week the firm, which is the town's largest employer, announced it wants to move production of tyres for light vehicles to Serbia, meaning three hundred out of 700 jobs could go.

    The unions say they will fight the decision.

    The family of a man who had been living in a care home for five years after suffering a brain injury have said a massive difference has been made to all their lives since he returned home.

    Ryan Pollard, 25, was featured in BBC One's DIY SOS programme last year, and which was was repeated last night.

    The team helped to specially renovate his home in Hartcliffe in Bristol.

    His family said it has made a "vast difference".
