    Campaigners have lost a bid to challenge the lifting of a ban on the use of "bee-harming" pesticides in four counties, including Cambridgeshire.

    Friends of the Earth were refused permission to apply for a judicial review of the government's decision to partially lift a two-year EU-wide ban.

    A High Court judge ruled the campaigners' case "unarguable on all grounds".

    About 100 people attended the annual Polish Independence Day march in Peterborough last night.

    A woman whose torso was found in a suitcase in Peterborough was beaten up so badly just before her death she was "very blue", a trial has been told.

    The remains of Ramute Butkiene (pictured), 42, were found in a suitcase at a house in Mayor's Walk on 5 June.

    Her friend Juolanda Tarailiene told Southwark Crown Court the victim "looked like a rotten apple" after the beating. Vytautas Jokubauskas, 57, of Mayor's Walk, admits manslaughter but denies murder.

    The tax offices in Cambridge and Peterborough are toclose as part of HM Revenue and Custom's, external restructuring proposals.

    They're part of 15 offices in the East of England to close as part of HMRC's plans to shut all of its UK-wide offices in favour of 13 new regional tax centres.

    They're expected to go in the county between 2018 and 2021.

    The director of public health for Cambridgeshire has defended "fat letters" being sent out to parents.

    Some parents say The National Children Measurement Programme, external which lets parents know by letter if their child is overweight or obese is a "step too far". 

    Dr Liz Robin says: "We want to help children to be healthy and parents like to know".

  15. Chemical spill in the Fens leads to road closurespublished at 11:21

    Emergency services have closed roads in the Fens following a chemical spill.

    Norfolk Police said the material leaked from a sprayer at Lakes End, near Wisbech, at about 09:20 and people should avoid the area as a precaution. 

    There are diversions at Silt Road, Horsehead Drove and the junction of Wisbech Road and New Road.

    Money was sacked by the club on the 2 November after being in charge for three years. 

    He's yet to announce if he'll take up another managerial role after implying in the past that he wanted to finish his managerial career at the U's.
