    We've yet to hear from Shaun Derry on this morning's announcement that he'll be the next manager at Cambridge United. 

    But this is what we do know so far when he was quoted in a recent book on football management.

    Shaun Derry made his reputation as a tough-tackling central midfielder after coming through the ranks at boyhood club Notts County.

    The 37-year-old went on to win promotion to the Premier League twice as a player, with Crystal Palace in 2004 and QPR in 2011.

    In total he made 652 career appearances, scoring 12 goals for eight clubs including Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Portsmouth.

    Cambridge United, external have just released the following statement that Shaun Derry is their new gaffer.

    Cambridge United Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Shaun Derry as the club’s new manager on a contract until the end of the 2017/18 season. A press conference will take place at 3pm today."

    Derry’s first foray into management was a fairytale return to Notts County, the club he supported as a boy, in November 2013.

    He managed to steer the club to unlikely League One survival in his first season in charge.

    But he was sacked by the Magpies in March this year with the club one place above the relegation zone – and they eventually dropped out of the division at the end of the campaign.

    Derry took charge at Meadow Lane in November 2013 before being fired earlier this year.

    Anglian Water has just told us that engineers have fixed a burst water main in Littleport.

    The company says there may still be low pressure for a while and is recommending people run their taps for a few minutes if the water is discoloured or cloudy.

    The burst main had caused problems in the east Cambridgeshire village since yesterday.

    Former Notts County boss Shaun Derry is the overwhelming favourite to succeed Richard Money as manager of Cambridge United.

    All major bookmakers have suspended betting on Derry to take over at the Abbey. 

    The 37-year-old is a relative managerial novice having spent less than 16 months at Meadow Lane, but would arrive with a wealth of playing experience, including at Premier League level.

    Parents have told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that a letter being sent to them saying if their child is overweight or obese is insulting and "a step too far".

    The scheme called the The National Children Measurement Programme, external aims to reduce the growing number of overweight children and educate parents about healthy eating and exercise. 

    In Cambridgeshire three in every 10 children leaving primary school are either overweight or obese.
