I've been in Henlow this morning where this man, who didn't want to be named, told me that the future remains unclear.

"They said the site's being closed by 2020 and that's it... we've been told absolutely nothing, that's all I can say because that's all I know. I've been in the MoD on and off for years now and that's what you come to expect."

    Mike Cartwright
    BBC Look East

A lorry driver has been found not guilty of driving without due care and attention after a dash-cam recorded him appearing to drive into a car twice on the M1 near Northampton.

Paul Edwards, 68, of Trident Drive, Dunstable, was cleared at Wellingborough Magistrates' Court following the alleged shunting in November.

    dashcam footage

Mr Edwards was filmed on the M1 by Matthew Stockdale, who previously told the BBC he was "repeatedly and deliberately" rammed.

The lorry driver, who lives in Bedfordshire, was employed by Wincanton hauliers as an agency driver and liability for car damage was accepted by the firm's insurers.

However, the three magistrates at Wellingborough could not be sure the lorry struck the car and found him not guilty.

The court heard Mr Edwards was a "credible witness" and a "competent driver with a 45-year clean driving licence".

Following the verdict, Mr Stockdale declined to comment.

Although the GP surgery on the site will continue as normal, the walk-in services are being moved to Milton Keynes Hospital following a public consultation.

The Clinical Commissioning Group for MK says it means the full range of urgent care can be met in one place and easily accessed by more people.

  14. Police officer breaks down at misconduct hearingpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Mousumi Bakshi
    BBC Look East

A Hertfordshire police officer accused of lying about his reasons for speeding in Watford has broken down at his hearing for gross misconduct.

PC Steven Wall claimed he was trying to catch up with a car when he was caught on a speed camera at 37mph in a 30mph zone.

Mr Wall revealed to the hearing he had been suffering from "episodes" before he joined the armed police unit.

It heard he once attended a road traffic accident where a 13-year-old boy died, which led to difficulty sleeping.

It also heard he suffered mentally after he had to attend an incident where a man killed himself with a shotgun. He revealed he had been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

He struggled to contain his tears as he admitted he had never discussed his "episodes" with the police.

PC Wall told the hearing he tried to deal with it internally and his wife encouraged him to seek help.

The misconduct hearing will resume tomorrow.
