    Cambridge United's EFL Trophy campaign has ended.

    The U's, external have exited the competition at the first knockout stage after losing 1-0 at Bradford last night. 

    Next up it's a trip to Hartlepool in League Two. Things have been made easier for Shaun Derry and his team, as the board has funded three nights in the North East ahead of the away game on Saturday.

    A man from March has restored a 100-year-old Royal Mail wheelbarrow.

    Colin Bedford revived the cart after it was found in a barn in Heacham in Norfolk.

    The very rare Victorian barrow was used in the 1900s by postmen in the Fens.

    It was donated to the March Veteran and Vintage Cycle Club with a gas lamp on the front, equipped with a truncheon to fight off mail thieves.

    Shaun Derry will make changes to his side for this evening's EFL Trophy tie at Bradford.

    The likes of Ben Williamson and Joe Pigott could be handed recalls.

    Conor Newton, who had suffered a hamstring injury, should be available, however as reported a short while ago, Adam McGurk is set to be out until the new year with a thigh tear.

    Tonight marks the first knockout round of the remodelled Checkatrade Trophy, with a final at Wembley Stadium at stake.

    Cambridge United forward Adam McGurk isn't likely to be fit until at least the New Year, according to manager Shaun Derry.

    The former Portsmouth man suffered a thigh tear against Portsmouth at the end of October

    Derry says that they "need to be careful he doesn't come back too soon".

    "The physio said it's a 12 or 16cm tear in his thigh. So it's pretty bad".

    McGurk has only made 10 appearances for the U's since joining from Portsmouth in the summer.

    The U's travel to Bradford in the EFL Trophy. We'll have a match preview a little later on.

    A photo has been released of Joy Harrild, who sadly died in a crash on the A505 near Melbourn yesterday. 

    Joy, 26, of Hunters Mews in Dog Kennel Lane, Royston, was travelling along the A505 at about 09.30 in her black Ford KA when it was in collision with two other cars.

    Her family have called her "the brightest and kindest of us all". 

    "We are incredibly proud of the person she was and all that she achieved," they said.

    “An avid lover of the outdoors and baker of every birthday cake, Joy dedicated her life to helping others.

    "She was passionate about her work and was at the heart of our family. We will miss her every day and will never forget the love she gave us all.”

    Joy practised as a dentist at Brookfields Community Dental Services in Seymour Street, off Mill Road, in Cambridge.

    A prisoner who has links to Cambridgeshire has absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire.

    Phillip Henry Willis, 65, who is serving a sentence for arson, was released on temporary licence yesterday but failed to arrive at his destination near Peterborough

    This is not a crime you hear about everyday.

    The Cambridge News, external are reporting that a passenger in a white van has been pushing cyclists off their bikes and throwing eggs at pedestrians in the city.

    The paper says that the police are investigating eight reports of anti-social behaviour in the past few months.

    It may seem like the excitement of Rio 2016 was an age ago, but Peterborough City Council are set to hold a special meeting to formally give three of the medal-winning Olympians and Paralympians the Freedom of the City.

    Gymnast Louis Smith, Paralympic rower James Fox and wheelchair basketball star Lee Manning are set to receive the city's highest honour next Wednesday.

    You may have seen yesterday that two Soay Sheep have been stolen from a farm near Peterborough.

    Luna (pictured) and Solar, who were kept on Sacrewell Farm as pets, were taken between 18:00 Monday and 07:00 Tuesday.

    Police say they are investigating, but the offenders have not yet been identified.

    A motorist made an unexpected stop at a convenience shop this morning, and ending up embedded in the front window.

    Police tell us the driver "lost control" and crashed the Peugeot into the front of the Northborough One Stop store on East Road in Peterborough just before 11:00.

    No-one was injured, but the shop and car were both damaged in the impact.

    Police from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit tweeted a photo, external of the scene.

    On top of all of the goodwill messages from members of the community that Maylin has helped out, Mary King, who is lead nurse at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, has also sent her good wishes.

    “Maylin has devoted her nursing career to neonatal care and is hugely respected and admired by all her colleagues and friends in the profession", she said.

    "She has been an outstanding part of the team on NICU for many years and has helped thousands of families through difficult times in her 50-year career as a nurse.

    "She will be much missed by her colleagues who wish her a very happy retirement."

    Maylin Gosling, a neonatal nurse at Addenbrooke's, is retiring after 50 years of service.

    There's been a lot of reaction to Maylin's departure as a neonatal nurse at Addenbrooke's Hospital over on our Facebook page.

    She's helped thousands of babies arrive into the world over a career of 50 years.
