    HSBC has announced it's to close one of its banks in Cambridge.

    The Chesterton Road branch will shut on 10 March. 

    The bank says the number of people using it has dropped by almost a third in the past five years and the majority of customer contact is now via the internet, smartphone or telephone.

  4. Peterborough Paralympians 'honoured' for being awarded Freedom of Citypublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2016

    It's not just Louis Smith who's been awarded the Freedom of Peterborough City. 

    James Fox (second from right), who won a gold medal in rowing in the Paralympics, said: "As a country we had an awesome summer and it's brilliant that we're celebrating this.

    "It's a real honour to be awarded freedom of a city that means so much to me, and one which really laid the foundations for where I am now.

    "I hope things like this inspire the children of Peterborough to give sport a go just like I did as schoolboy. Who knows where it could take them?".

    Paralympic wheelchair basketball bronze medalist Lee Manning told me "it's a privilege and honour and shows the amazing support Peterborough has towards sport, both Paralympic and Olympic, and can hopefully serve to inspire others."

  6. Rail disruption likely until 17:00published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2016

    Greater Anglia says disruption to rail services, external to and from Norwich station is likely to continue until 17:00.

    A fault with the signalling system means trains are running at reduced speed on some lines. Network Rail Engineers are on site and, working to resolve the problem.

    The following services have been cancelled:

    • 1530: Liverpool Street to Norwich
    • 1612: Cambridge to Norwich
    • 1630: Liverpool Street to Norwich

    The power of film led to a cinema-goer in Wisbech organising an impromptu collection for local food banks. 

    Margaret Duhig was watching the Ken Loach drama I, Daniel Blake, external last month at the Luxe Cinema and was so moved by the scenes of poverty in the film that she organised an immediate collection in the auditorium.

    She received £33 and used this to buy food for a food bank.

    This inspired Nathan Smith from the cinema to do his bit, and he's asking his staff to "dip into their pocket" to help people nearby.

    He's now aiming to "match or exceed" Ms Duhig's efforts.

    A body has been found in water in central Cambridge.

    The body, believed to be a male, was spotted in the river at Coe Fen, near the Fen Causeway, just before midday. 

    Police say they're treating the death as "unexplained". 

    A cordon remains in place at the scene.

    "It's scandalous that they are even considering depriving patients from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough of the opportunity of becoming parents."

    This is what Mike MacNamee, the chief executive of Bourn Hall fertility clinic in Cambridgeshire, believes if the county's clinical commissioning group goes ahead with plans to remove free IVF treatment for prospective parents in the county.

    He says in a county that "invented IVF, why are they looking to cut it?".

    The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG says it's too early to comment as it is still working with other bodies to define the consultation process.

    It says the move would save it more than £1m a year.

    The decision to possibly remove IVF treatment on the NHS for all potential parents in Cambridgeshire has been called "really, really, sad."

    Hayley Brook, from Cambridge, went through two cycles of the treatment and had her "gorgeous little girl" Tessa in June. 

    She told me that her second try was her "last chance".

    The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group is today asking the county council's health committee to approve a consultation on the plan to stop offering IVF treatment on the NHS.

    Health managers in Cambridgeshire are proposing to stop offering IVF fertility treatment on the NHS. 

    Couples in the county can apply for one round of IVF on the NHS, but this was cut from two in June. 

    Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group will today ask the county council's health committee to approve the process for a consultation on the possible change. 

    It says the move would save it more than £1m a year.

    The latest primary school league tables for England show only 53% of final year pupils passed the tougher tests introduced in the summer. 

    Peterborough came out second bottom at just 43%, which is just 1% in front of the worst performing area of Bedford.

    signalling problem, external near Norwich is still causing delays of up to 20 minutes on journeys between Ely and Norwich.

    National Rail says it expects some services to be cancelled, and the disruption could continue for longer than it first thought.

    It first stated that everything would be back to normal by 12:30, but that time has now been pushed back to 14:30.
