    Adam Jinkerson
    BBC Local Live

Remember Lorraine Daniels? She was the local Cambridgeshire resident who won £729,026 on the lottery with her father back in April this year.

Today she hosted an Elf Festival at her daughter’s special school to help pupils and staff start Christmas week celebrations in seasonal style.

Ms Daniels decided to host the festive to enable her daughter Lotus, and more than 40 fellow students at Meadowgate School in Wisbech, to celebrate Christmas in a familiar environment, where they could feel safe and relaxed.

Back in 2014 Lotus underwent surgery for her extreme epilepsy and has been attending the school for a number of years.

Lorraine said: "Our lottery win couldn't have come at a better time".

"At the time, money was ever so tight. I couldn't afford the specialist bed we needed for Lotus and had only been able to place the order because of the generosity of the community who raised enough money for us to order it.

"Before the bed had even arrived, dad and I won the Lottery and we could pay back the community, so the money went to another worthy cause".

A spokesman for Meadowgate said the school is "so grateful for Lorraine's support with this event and her enthusiasm for the school".

    Pete Cooper
    BBC Local Live

The NIC interim report says two stretches of East-West Rail's western section could run from Northampton to Oxford or Reading, and from Northampton to Aylesbury or London Marylebone.

Northampton Borough Council also hopes the report will secure support for a north-west Northampton bypass, which would run from Welford Road to Round Spinney.

    Adam Jinkerson
    BBC Local Live

What are you doing with your Christmas Eve? Mulled wine? How about roasting chestnuts on an open fire?

Not if you're Ian Cumming, star of the Great British Bake Off in 2015.

He's going to be "throwing the stats" at Shippea Hill station, after it was voted "the quietest in Britain" for a second year running.

There are just 12 entries and exits to and from trains at the station in a year, something Mr Cumming wants to change.

And if you attend, you may even get a tasty surprise...
