  9. Man dies and child hurt as car flips over into ditchpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    A man has died and a child taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash near Eye.

    Police said the man was driving a black Range Rover on Crowland Road this afternoon when it was believed he lost control of the vehicle.

    It then left the road and ended up on its roof in a ditch. He died at the scene.

    A child passenger received "serious injuries" and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, a spokesman said.

    Anyone who saw the crash has been asked to get in touch with police.

    The statue of Posh legend Chris Turner has been unveiled outside the Abax Stadium.

    Tens of thousands of pounds were raised by fans to make the artwork of the former player and manager, who died in 2015 aged 64.

    Routes that a proposed new busway link between Cambourne and Cambridge could take have been revealed.

    The proposals by the Greater Cambridge Partnership, external include two on-road routes and one off-road route south of the A428 - which they say will avoid the West Fields.

    Amanda Fuller, from the Coton Busway Action Group, said "the off-road busway is hugely unpopular and is going to cost hundreds of millions of pounds - it is a big white elephant".

    Rachel Stopard, the chief executive of the Greater Cambridge Partnership, said it was "listening" to worries and had "already removed one of the options that had most concerns".

    The proposals will be considered by the partnership on 13 and 20 September.

    If the plans are supported, a public consultation will take place between November and December.

    Cambridge United completed their final summer signing just minutes ahead of Thursday's 23:00 transfer deadline.

    Defender George Taft has rejoined on loan from Mansfield until January.

    The 24-year-old had a previous three-month loan spell with the U's in 2015, where he scored once in 13 appearances.

    Peterborough United's only piece of deadline day business involved a contract extension. Midfielder Marcus Maddison signed a new three-year deal and will stay with the Posh until 2020.

    This weekend the U's are hosting Colchester in League Two, while Posh are heading to Doncaster in League One.

    A statue of former Peterborough United player and manager Chris Turner is due to be unveiled today.

    The sculpture will be revealed at the club's London Road stadium at 15:00.

    Chris Turner died in April 2015, aged 64, after being diagnosed with a form of dementia in 2006.

    He also had spells at Cambridge United as a player and manager.
