There were mixed fortunes for our Cambridgeshire's sides in the Checkatrade Trophy, last night.
Peterborough United beat Southampton U21s 2-0 in front of 2,282 supporters at London Road thanks to first-half goals from Junior Morias and Marcus Maddison (pictured).
Meanwhile, Cambridge United drew their opening group game away at Northampton Town 1-1 despite taking the lead through Piero Mingoia.
Under competition rules, any match that ends in a draw proceeds to a penalty shoot-out, with the winners of the spot-kick contest taking an extra point; however, the U's lost the shoot-out 5-4.
Next fixtures (3 October)
Peterborough United v Northampton Town
