  2. Pashley to upgrade London's 'Boris Bikes' as part of £80m dealpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 6 October 2016

    Pashley Cycles says, external a contract to produce a new model of so-called "Boris Bikes" is worth £79.7m.

    It says the new model will be 10% lighter than the current one and is designed to give a more "manoeuvrable and comfortable" ride.

    Steven Bell, Pashley Cycles' general manager, said the company had been working on the scheme since 2015 and was "delighted to be working on such a prestigious scheme".

    Police in Warwickshire say they want to speak to a tractor driver after a fatal crash, external that left a biker dead.

    The motorcyclist, in his 60s, was struck on the Banbury road between Southam and Ladbroke.

    Officers say they think the driver of the tractor might have vital information about the 7 August collision.

  9. Pashley to build 'Boris Bike' upgradepublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 6 October 2016

    The next generation of London bikes-for-hire - so-called "Boris Bikes" - will be built by Stratford's Pashley Cycles.

    The new model will be lighter, with smaller wheels and a lower frame.

    The £79.7m contract for the roll-out has been awarded to Serco, which will continue to manufacture, distribute and maintain the bikes from 2017 until 2022.

    Pashley Cycles will build the equipment from 2018.

    Police in Warwickshire are searching for two men who threatened a petrol station attendant , externalwith a knife.

    It happened at a BP branch on Lawford Road in Rugby on Saturday 24 September.

    They demanded the worker open the locked door to the shop and, once inside, took the till drawer before leaving in the direction of Pinfold Street.

    The designs show a planned celebration of Shakespeare, with doubles for the River Avon and Holy Trinity Church intended to draw in domestic tourists without them accruing air miles.

    Stratford District Council leader, Chris Saint, has been to China to discuss the plans for Fujian province.

    But would Stratford by a different builder be as sweet?

    A Ghanaian boy, born with organs outside his abdomen, has been reunited with family in Africa after a Warwickshire couple helped raise funds for a life-saving operation.

    Doctors David and Jacquie Williams, from Stretton-on-Fosse,raised the money needed for air fares, surgery and nursing care, to bring Ethan Suglo to hospital in Oxford.
