    A Coventry woman's been given a suspended jail sentence for her part in a rail ticket fraud, say police.

    Elizabeth Howell, 46, from Dovedale Avenue, was part of a gang who used dozens of false names and addresses to scam almost £100,000 out of train operators  by claiming compensation for fake delays.

    She pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and moneylaundering.

    The group made 350 claims between 2010 and 2015, external , British Transport Police said. 

    In total four were convicted with two former Southern rail workers jailed for their part in the scam.

    The driver of an overturned lorry has been taken to hospital with head injuries, the ambulance service says

    They were called to the A426 at 06:45 to find the driver had been helped out of the lorry's cab by passers-by.

    The road remains closed in both directions for the recovery of the 42-tonne vehicle.

    Bus services are being diverted away from the A426, as it remains closed in both directions near junction one for the M6 (Rugby and Lutterworth).

    The lorry overturned just south of the motorway island opposite the Premier Inn.

    The A426 Rugby Road, near the M6, is shut in both directions as a lorry has overturned.

    There was a collision on a busy roundabout, police say, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

    So who is likely to win? 

    One of Britain's foremost polling analysts, Professor John Curtis of the University of Strathclyde, told BBC One's Sunday Politics on 2 April: "The West Midlands looks like a draw. And another Labour loss would pile yet more pressure on Jeremy Corbyn."

    Fire crews were called to free a child from a car in Warwick earlier today after he accidentally locked himself and his mum's keys in the car.

    Mum, Verity Slatem said James thought it was quite funny at first, but had started to get a little worried by the time the firefighters turned up to Cape Road in Warwick.

    She later tweeted her thanks to the service for rescuing the "little monkey".

    Wade, who's has scored 14 league tries this season, was judged by a panel as the man who made the biggest impact in the league over the month.

    Rugby World Cup winner, Will Greenwood, said the player had been on "sparkling form".

    "Christian has a low centre of gravity, explosive power, blistering speed and is a joy to watch," he said.

  16. Man jailed for killing Coventry postmanpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    A man who killed Coventry postman, David Lamont, by running him over, has been jailed for nine and a half years.

    Kamaljit Dhaliwal, 54, from Coventry, admitted causing the death in 2016 of David Lamont by careless driving while under the influence of drink and drugs, but was found not guilty of his murder.

    At Warwick Crown Court, sitting in Coventry, Dhaliwal was sentenced to nine and a half years for manslaughter and five and a half years for causing death by careless driving, to run concurrently.

    A 29 year-old man from Coventry has been charged with fraud by false representation and handling stolen goods, police say., external

    The charges relate to three incidents in Rugby when bank cards were stolen and used to obtain goods. 

    He's been remanded in custody and is due at Warwick Crown Court next month.
