    Detectives are continuing to question an 18-year-old Coventry woman who was arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of terrorism offences.

    The woman was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

    She's being questioned by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at a police station in the region.

    Nuneaton Town has announced, external Alex Penny has moved to League One side Peterborough United for a club record fee.

    The 20-year-old defender is one of a number of Boro players invited to Jamie Vardy's V9 academy for non-league players earlier this summer.

    He becomes the third Nuneaton player to link up with Peterborough in the past 18 months.

  10. Appeal for witnesses after burglary at Alcester shoppublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Police are seeking information about a burglary, external at Tesco Express in Alcester in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

    Officers attended the scene - in Hopkins Precinct - to find four people leaving the shop in a light blue BMW M3.

    A 20-year-man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They are both in custody.

    Officers are now asking eyewitnesses with information about the two remaining offenders to come forward.

  11. Anglers issued illegal fishing finespublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Police officers teamed up with The Angling Trust, The Environment Agency and the Rural Crime Coordinator for Warwickshire to check anglers using water courses and fisheries for licenses.

    Eight water courses were visited - including ones in Wolvey, Rugby and Coombe Abbey - resulting in seven anglers being issued with penalties.

    Detectives have been granted more time, external to question an 18-year-old Coventry woman who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of terrorism offences.

    The woman was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the comission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

    She continues to be questioned by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at a police station in the region.

    Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton has put her jousting skills to the test in Warwickshire.

    The gold medal-winning cyclist donned a suit of armour and a 12ft lance as she was put through her paces during a special training session at Kenilworth Castle.

    It was all part of the launch of English Heritage's "Medieval Knights Season" and follows calls by the charity to make jousting an Olympic sport.

    A petition has been launched to try and reverse a decision to close a farm in the grounds of a Coventry school.

    It follows last week's announcement by Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School that it was no longer going to offer qualifications in agricultural studies.

    The school says it will instead put more emphasis on subjects like maths and science.
