  2. Oxygen appeal raises more than £15,000

    Nine oxygen concentrators worth more than £15,000 have been sent to India after an appeal by 40 Rotary clubs in the West Midlands.

    The money was raised in two weeks and members are now raising money for another 32.

    Clubs taking part include those across Birmingham, north and south Warwickshire, north Worcestershire and Coventry.

    Heart of England Rotary District treasurer Robert Rainbow said: “We have been totally overwhelmed with the amount of support this appeal has received."

  4. Coventry's transport history to go on show

    Transport innovations developed in Coventry and Warwickshire will be showcased during its year as City of Culture.

    The Our Future Moves launches with an exhibition at Coventry Transport Museum from 17 July.

    It will highlight the region's pioneering work in transport innovation – from autonomous vehicles to one-person submarines.

    Objects on display will include a Skyfarer delivery drone, Aurrigo autonomous shuttle, Coventry Very Light Rail (VLR) model, Jaguar I-PACE, Microcabs hydrogen car, and a University of Warwick nano satellite which monitors wildlife populations.

    Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and Regeneration, said: “I hope people will learn a lot, get a glimpse of the future and feel inspired.”

  7. Force looks to recruit 40 new officers

    Warwickshire Police will be holding a series of events as it looks to recruit 40 new officers.

    The force is looking for people to join its three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, serving as a paid police constable while studying for a fully-funded university degree.

    It will be holding online recruitment events on 2, 5 and 8 of June, with a face-to-face event being held at the Benn Hall in Rugby between 18:00-19:00 or 19:30-20:30 on 9 June.

  8. Pantomime's 'magic' in May comeback

    Audiences are being asked to get their Christmas jumpers back on for a pantomime which has been re-scheduled for a May start.

    Sleeping Beauty is being performed at Studley Sports Centre in Studley, Warwickshire, between 28 May and 6 June.

    Aunty Jen Productions says the socially-distanced show will still bring "the magic of this classic fairy-tale complete with songs, dances and some hilarious comedy routines".

    Some theatres and venues opened their doors for the first time in months on 17 May as lockdown restrictions eased.
