The chief executive of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Stuart Cain (pictured), has welcomed news the sport is to receive what's expected to be a significant chunk from the government's Covid-19 recovery fund.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak is to announce £300m of funding to help sport recover from lockdown in today's Budget.
Warwickshire lost £9m as last season fell victim to the pandemic and the new money will help the club to prepare for what it hopes will be the return of spectators.
Quote MessageIt is helping us get the stadium ready for reopening, helping make sure that we've got all the right staff in place with the right equipment, importantly we've got the right PPE equipment, that people have been trained, that we've got safe procedures in place for when crowds come back in (to) the stadium. But equally it's not just about professional sport hopefully. We want some of the money to go to help fund the recreational cricket clubs in the region as well."

Last night’s meteor, visible over the West Midlands, was caused by a piece of asteroid entering the earth’s atmosphere, according to scientists from the UK Fireball Alliance (UKFAll).
The fireball sent a sonic boom across southern England, the organisation said.
Dr Luke Daly of the University of Glasgow and UKFAll said: “This meteor fragmented a lot, as you can see in the videos.
"Most of the meteoroid vapourised during the six seconds of visible flight. However, with this one we think quite a few fragments probably reached the ground”.

What's been reported as a meteor was captured on CCTV and on doorbell cameras last night, an astronomer has said.
The bright streak across the sky was spotted shortly before 22:00 and was visible for around seven seconds, said astronomer Andrew Lound.
The debris which hit the earth's atmosphere was "probably only the size of a pebble," he said.

In the West Midlands, one in 140 people are estimated to be testing positive for coronavirus in the period.
At England level, one in 145 people are estimated to be testing positive for the coronavirus compared with one in 115 last week.
About 97% of people aged over 70 in the region have received a Covid-19 vaccine but there is concern that take-up is lower among some ethnic minority groups and people who live in poorer neighbourhoods.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has praised health workers in Coventry and Warwickshire over Covid vaccine delivery.
“I want to thank the whole team in Coventry and Warwickshire who have delivered the highest uptake in the whole country, giving first doses to over 95% of the over-65s in their area," he said during a government briefing earlier.
"Thank you. It’s an absolutely spectacular effort.”
Speaking from Downing Street, he urged people to stick to the stay-at-home guidance, warning the pandemic "isn't over yet".

Mark Thurston, chief executive of HS2 Ltd, said the ticketing structure would ensure trains can be used by "all working people".
The level of HS2 fares and whether trains will have first-class compartments has not been decided.
Opponents of the railway have claimed tickets will be significantly more expensive than for conventional trains to help pay for the railway.
The government-commissioned Oakervee Review warned in 2018 HS2's final bill could reach £106bn at 2019 prices.
During a virtual appearance at the National Rail Recovery Conference, Mr Thurston insisted it "needs to be an affordable railway" so it becomes "an integral part of the rail network".
